Tomtom is the easiest to use of the three that we've had. Can't remember what the other two were, though.0

Get a cheap one with Windows software on it (I got a My Guide from ebuyer), you can then install a wide range of software. Ours cost £50 and I can keep updating the software and maps, POI etc for free!!
See here for instructions for My Guide brand :

You can't go wrong with any of the budget Tomtom or Garmin models. Avoid the cheap £30 stuff as they are very basic and don't offer that good value for money.0

If you have a Iphone or similar there are many briliant apps like Co pilot which is about £25!0

Garmin or Tomtom every time
Their base models are perfectly acceptable, i have Garmins, both a base model (lives in usual car) and one with more features for the bluetooth capability means i always have buetooth handsfree if using a rental car0 -
Does she have a Smartphone or Iphone, it might be worth getting her software for that (CoPilot or TomTom) instead of adding another distraction to her dashboard while she is driving!
