Groom's Speech

Hi,
Loved the speech! Another teary b2b here!
I would say that as there isnt a Father of bride speech maybe you could praise your wife a little more.. i went to a wedding recently where there was no father of bride speech and husband said a few words about her, how proud he was of her for passing her uni exams etc, the stuff the father usually says in praise of his daughter.
I would include a few stories about you and your wife, nothing too embarassing! Check with your best man as to what he is going to say, but if you stick to cute things about the two of you then im sure he wont be saying the same things!!
Final point - i would make up some cards for your speech rather than a sheet of paper. Just print it out, cut it up and stick it on some pieces of card. Been to several weddings where the groom has read off a single sheet and it has resulting in several "where was i at" awkward moments that ruined the flow.
Good luck!

Print it out in a big enough font and it won't be a problem. I've seen a few people (including myself!) drop pieces of card, or read the wrong card at the wrong time...
If you're going to put them on card, secure them all together so you can't get them out of order0 -
Awwww so sweet - i really enjoyed it. Like someone else said its got all the elements there. Good luck0

How about; We have been together now for 3 years, and it’s completely flown by. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together as man and wife and know it will be just as enjoyable.Kel, you are an amazing mum and have done so well in your life to get to be the successful independent woman you are today, I love you in so many ways and for so many reasons, you know me and understand me like no one else ever could, you make me laugh so hard and smile so often, you have a way of bringing out the very best in me, but mostly because you’re my very best friend and my soul mate. I love you with all my heart.0 -
How is it sounding to you now with the changes....?..Does it flow well and last about 3 mins?....if the answer is yes I think you're almost there....frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

3 mins, you jest?
I timed it more like 7, obviously with the giving of the gifts that probably take approx 2-3 mins.
The flow seems ok to me yes.0 -
I would aim for no more than 10 minutes. By the time you've dished out the gifts your speech will be the right length.
Your additions are perfect. Put the speech together and give it another run through.
My OH has been best man twice now, both times we filmed him practicing the speech so he could watch it back and make sure timings and pauses etc were all right. Perhaps you could do this? Also, go practice on someone, maybe your mum or your best man.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -

Going to a mate of mine's tomorrow night, so will give it a run through with him and his missus. Might get him to film too, so I can see for myself.0 -
