well done buiddy but start putting some in the stock market, you get 2% from a savings accounts basically nothing all you need to get from teh markets is 4% and you have saved a year of your life, and 4% isn't hard all the best

I agree, a safe ftse 100 company will pay dividends much greater than a bank, but its a shame tht most ppl dont understand how shares work so will probably end up losing the money. best bet is to research/speak to someone investing first b4 committing to anything.
  • Got offered a full time contract at work yesterday after being a temp for 19 months! Well pleased!

Not sure if I will get any more money until I get to see the contract next week...but the plus points are that I will get paid if I am sick, get overtime at 1.5 times my hourly rate and will have more job security.

The drawback is that I will be converting from weekly to monthly pay, meaning I will need to save 1 weeks wage overall so that I can smooth things out. That means very little spending until I have saved £214.00.

Already got £40.51 carry over from this weeks wage and will get £60.00 for working all day Saturday.

Got to buy my sister a birthday present for her 30th tomorrow...

    wish me luck ;)
    Total in ISAs = £8,863.50
  • MoneyWaster2007,

I have decided that I have got to send my missus over to you for some lessons on how to make her money go further (you can keep her if she doesn't improve;) lol

I have a pay as you go mobile where I get 300 free texts each time I top up by £10. My internet costs me £15 per month on pay as you go...I'm all for a bit of money saving me!!

If you have an O2 mobile (top up £10 every 3 months,I think) you can use their Broadband for £7.50 a month with no download limit, but your exchange needs to be updated with their equipment to take advantage.

Any old mobiles to recycle for cash ?

Just a personal view but i think this thread is going the wrong way. The OP seems intelligent enough he should be able to find a job paying more than £6.25. The OP needs career advice rather than how to save pennies our of £6.25. OP get off your !!! and move it :)

And have you noticed the unemployment rates recently? Maybe he will find something within his current company now that he's permanent.

I really hate this reason/excuse. I guarantee that if the OP really put his mind to it he could find a job paying more than £6.25 per hour. That is a low wage.

I was trying to think of ways to help the OP get a bit of extra cash to put towards his savings, sorry if people think this was not the aim of the thread.
