I suppose so yes. We shouldn't deny ourselves the odd treat from time to time, plus there's ways or treating ourselves which don't have to break the bank. As the other posters have said do half and half, or check on ebay or m & m sports

Hello mw - good to see you back[and I've been away for a few mths too, NZ and France].
Just did a quick peep on fleabay - 166 men's Berghaus Jackets currently for auction.
Don't know what size you are, nor what colour/fabric preferences you have. I then looked at completed listings[only registered sellers can do this] many were unsold, even with 99p starts. The lowest Sold price is £1.49 for a grey fleece jacket/navy zip front and a Berghaus Extreme Windstopper jacket sold for £6 with 3 bids. The highest was £65, for a BNWT[Brand New With Tags]Akka Jacket in navy blue. You clearly have a particular style in mind. Let us know and I'll ferret through them for you. The other thing to do is google 'cheapest+[whatever named style]+Berghaus+men's+jacket' and let kelkoo and megabot filter best deals up for you. Martin gives you the How To's on this. Also look on Amazon and visit a TK Maxx if you have one nearby.
It's excellent to see you continuing to make your way so very well during times that are even tougher than they were when you began your diary - and will become more so, without any doubt.
You really are being exceptional in sticking to [a] your job your iron-will savings habit [c] NOT SMOKING - FANTASTIC! [d] coming back here when you are thinking about things and seeking advice/opinions [e] learning from experience [f] valuing your family [g] buying a bike - THE way to go since the glories of Mark, Bradley, Chris and Chris in the Tour de France and the Olympics. Also, it opens up a wonderful way of holidaying across the Channel and you'll be welcomed on 2 wheels there..
Yet again, mw, well done!!! Award yourself a Berghaus jacket, definitely, by one of the money-saving means posted. It will feel all the more snug and merited.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Just read through 24 pages of your story! I wanted to say thank you for being inspirational, not just in your saving attitude but also in your attitude to other people and life in general! And as well as giving me renewed energy to look at my spending and do better, you've passed on some handy tips. I especially like the one about putting away 10% of your salary at the start, I think I'll implement it from next month!
I just wanted to make a comment about going out as I don't know whether you have considered this before - you seem to be pretty well set up for entertainment between Xbox and Sky so why don't you invite your friends over some evenings instead of going out? Or even as well as! If your friends still leave with their parents you can offer them an evening away from home for the cost of a few cans of beer, or you can hope they'll reciprocate the invite... That way you can go out a bit less without seeing your friends less, or even still go out the same amount, but see your friends more for no dent to your savingsSaving £10,000 in 2013: £4491.48/£10,0000 -

Hi all!
Firstly, sorry I haven't replied to any of your kind posts - for some reason I haven't received any notifications to let me know there are some.
Secondly, I'm up to £5,800 and will hit £6k by Christmas - selling the car has been a big help in achieving this.
Will reply properly tomorrow but too tired now zzzzzzzTotal in ISAs = £8,863.500 -
Found myself wondering about you today, mw, so any news from you is good news - and your return IS good news:-).CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Well, reading over some of the replies on here it seems people went to some lengths in finding a cheap Berghaus jacket for me - which I seemingly ignored. This wasn't the true case as I simply had no idea there were any replies through not receiving any notifications and subsequently not checking the thread. So, apologies to those of you who may feel I was ignoring you (I wasn't)
In the end I got a parker jacket from burtons which cost £60 and is very warm - not bad I thought.
Changing topic, now that I have nearly £6k in savings, it seems that the standard 10% I save each month (approx. £100) is so small in comparison. It feels like the first bit went fast but now things are going slow, but....I know saving money is a long process and it doesn't happen overnight
I saw a good visual representation of a bar chart depicting the effect of compound interest but can't remember the web page. That really inspired me to keep going. Sometimes it feels like a drag, maybe I'm not being grateful for how far I've come or maybe I'm just having a negative day, who knows...Total in ISAs = £8,863.500 -
£6000 is great, at least you're not in debt ! You'll soon have enough for a nice little deposit eh ?#39 - Save £12k in 20250
