I paid £15 for it at the airport, good job too as the hotel room had no TV, and that's no fun in the middle of the French Alps! lol.. Great book though, really inspires you. I've got the Michael McIntyre book too, as he rose from nothing and on the verge on bankruptcy to where he is now, should also be quite uplifting and inspirational.

Xscape is brilliant, just can get expensive, but there are various offers and deals you can try and take advantage of.

Harrogate, I know it yeah, I used to live in Bradford for a while, so it wasn't far from me.

It did take me a while, I'm off Uni at the moment so I must be bored lol.. plus it's nice to read about someone else, like a little book really :)

I've got an ISA linked to my main account that I'm going to start off putting money away into. I an transfer it over to my main account instantly if it's an emergency, but I hope the act of transferring it will put me off unecessary spending.

Oh and a lorry hit my 206 GTi before xmas and completely trashed the drivers front wing, just got one off ebay for £45 delivered.. hope it's a good colour match and is okay.. £45 I wouldn't have had to spend if not for the numpty that hit the car whilst it was parked up. Grrrrr...

  • Ouch! Lucky you weren't in the car at the time! Have you got it yet? You can get just about anything on eBay these days.

I nearly crashed my car with my mum in it the other day, hit some black ice when turning into a road..was going pretty slow but could've hit a wall if I hadn't pulled the handbrake and done a Colin Mcrae type thing:eek:

I've decided to cancel my mobile phone insurance because I think it's a waste of money. The phone shop gave me £30 to cover the first three months of the insurance, so I'm going to ring them up and cancel tomorrow, making me £30 richer :)

I know some of you will frown upon that decision but I must say I have never in recent times lost or broken a mobile phone. That's the sort of thing I used to do when I was younger and going out drinking all the time :)

Need to buy two bulbs for the car tomorrow as they've blown - should only cost £1 each so not too bad :)

Last day at work tomorrow before the weekend. Got no plans for this weekend yet again...need to sort that out. Although Leeds are playing Arsenal on Saturday and me and my Dad are Leeds fans and my Mum's an Arsenal fan. And...it's on the tele:j

Do you have contents insurance? Some phones are covered on that. Also some banks give you extra's like that as part of your account.

I kinda agree in part - I was exactly the same when I went out all the time too, I went through phones like wanno; Wallets too I was always losing them.
It was whenever I went anywhere new, or did something out of the routine it would get left behind, or failing that, at any time while going out (pubs, bars, taxis, at parties, etc..)

I went for like 3 years without losing anything, then I was off the road for a couple of days, and had to catch the bus to work.
First day, bam. I lost my wallet on the bus - nice one. :(:p

When I was young (feel old saying that lol) mobile phones hadn't come out so obv we never went out with them in our bags/pockets. Could you think about leaving your phone at home when you go out? And only take cash, ie leave your wallet and cards at home?

You know how you said about it being difficult living off a low wage, not sure what you get but you may be entitled to working tax credit depending upon your earnings and your savings - might be worth a look to see if you could be entitled to it as its from 25 years old onwards:

    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/taxcredits/start/who-qualifies/workingtaxcredit/work.htm

I'm saving like you too so know what its like. Was on contract for years but have gone back to Pay as you go, but what I would say is make your money work for you. I think you said you'll be up to £6000 by the end of a few months, if you put it into llyds tsb vantage acc you'll get 4% interest on it and its calculated by the day, plus if you set up one with Halifax you can get the £5 bonus, gotta be worth a try.
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:
  • Just been paid today and transferred £160.40 into my ISA (surplus income from last month) taking it to £640.32. :)

Also transferred £50.00 into my Car Fund, taking that to £151.00. :)

Was going to buy Airplane 1+2 (the films) but then thought I'd see if I can get them cheaper on eBay...will check in a min.

Going to see a comedian this weekend - Sat' night, so that's something entirely different to what I usually do - and cheap. The ticket only cost £10.

Been going swimming a bit since my eye healed. It costs £4.10 per session though, so only been going once a week. Seen a couple of nice girls there but not had much chance to chat to any of them as they're too busy swimming :(

Just watching the Arsenal vs Ipswich game and got a few chores to be getting on with so chow for now :)

  • WP stashing the cash MW; Is that ISA subject to the £1k target?
Not bad progress if you don't mind me saying!

Talking of being on target, I'm in a good mood too (I know this isn't my thread so I'll be brief).
//I've set myself a savings target of about £2500 by roughly this time next year, and in my head I'm treating it like it's really important, like losing a girlfriend or something, to kind of manipulate myself into taking it seriously //

Ok, so today's payday for me too, but I cheated - Logged onto IB last night & could see my wages listed as an incoming BACS payment, so I could do all my month's budgeting up front.

Managed to allocate £250 or £300 to the reg-saver leaving me £100 or £50 respectively in credit at the end of month, barring some unforeseen catastrophe.
(the reason this is important is because the S/O to the reg-saver is on the 30th, very soon after payday, so this decision could leave me skint later if I get it wrong, and you know that something always crops up)

If I live dangerously, and allocate the £300, then at end of quarter 3, I will officially be on-target to save £2500 by the time the account matures.
Yay. Hmm, gotta be honest though, I'd prefer it if it came with a free pie or something..
