Maybe but I can only judge from this thread - anyway I will take your word for it and not post again.0

Oh great. I came on here for advice :-(.
I am not trying to get out of my responsabilities, i am mostly looking into reducing my repayments or taking a break from them so I can sort my money out and have enough money each month to support my children and buy food!!!
Really been put off asking for help on this forum now - i thought this were what it was about.
I KNOW I was stupid to get the loan. But I was young, no intention of having children anytime soon and could afford the £200 a month. Now I can't and they won't help me by lowering the repayments or anything. I Have paid back the loan, it is all interest now.0 -
I think the thing which triggered all the negative comments was the talk of 'irresponsible lending'. We see many people on these forums every day who borrowed a bunch of money and now want to find a way out of meeting that responsibility.
One piece of advice given above is solid - post up a statement of affairs on the debt free board detailing your income and outgoings and people may be able to help you find ways to cut back each month.0 -

If you cannot afford to support your children or buy food then you have a lifestyle issue.
You were given some good advice to head over to the other forums (Debt Free Wannabee for example) and get some advice on cutting back your outgoings, downsizing your lifestyle and making your existing money go further.
This was good advice and I would suggest you take them up on it.I KNOW I was stupid to get the loan. But I was young, no intention of having children anytime soon and could afford the £200 a month. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way - you don't first "pay back the loan" and then "pay back the interest either".
Head over to the other boards and post up some details of your income and outgoings - you will get loads of help and suggestions on making your money go further0 -

I have cut back on everything possible. Except the outgoings for the loan. I have already done all the basic switching suppliers, getting rid of the very few luxturies we ever had.
But this loan is meaning my outgoings are too much and I can't afford basic expenses each month. I have tried asking the bank if I can reduce my repayments and they just said no.0 -
Am amazed at how people are so quick to attack someone, I look back ( a long time now) when I was 19 and I have to say I was quite naive to the financial world and before anyone has a pop at me about my signature, we were paying all our debts on time and with no worries until my wife had an accident and became disabled.
SingleMum, how is your credit rating? good, bad or trashed?
Have you missed any payment dates?
Don't worry if you receive a letter from Mercers Debt Collection in the future, it's Barclays in-house DCA, same room, same office, just different letter-head.

No I haven't missed any payments for the loan, it just means I don't have anything left for food and I am constantly overdrawn and being charged other fees.
I know the loan was my fault. But IMO the sales woman took full advantage of the fact I was young and clueless.
My credit rating is OK I think. I did fail to get a mobile contract through t-mobile a while ago but I have had one through 3 since.0
