dont even think about moaning to the seller , cars go wrong all the time ,especialy £500 bangers

    fuel pipe..unlucky

brakes are service items and need doing on any car , the cable should only cost £10-20

so either poke up repairing old cars , or get something new and loose the depreciation instead

Did you have front or back brakes just fitted?

Are you sure the cable has snapped? The baby Fiats had badly designed, badly manufactured brakes and a liitle trick in bringing them into operation, is to find a nice empty stretch of road and accelerate in reverse for about fifty feet and do an emergency stop. That should bring the rear brakes into their proper operational position and get them working properly again.

The handbreak is just really loose and I can bring it up alot higher than usual and its just not securing the car. I can't see anything dangling underneath though.

I've not had anyone look at it yet.

I had a 3 year old car the fuel return line split on, I've just replaced the front pads and disks on my 6 year old car, third set of front pads now at 80,000 miles.

It happened as I parked the car and applied the handbreak

  • Get the handbrake adjustment checked as first port of call.
If it has had yrs of being gently applied, then someone else comes along and just 'snatches' the lever up, then any weakness there is in the system will show up. (been there, done it!)

I currently have an P plate Primera, i paid £300 for it in Feb, its had new brakes all round, sills welded for MOT,2 new front tyres, new clutch, new starter motor, and worst of all replacement power steering rack.(worst -as in a pain to swap)
But as i only paid £300 for it, i cannot complain to much, apart from the welding,I did all the work myself.

Think i'm going to get it checked out tomorrow. Its as if the handbreak inside the car isn't attached to anything

Carry a few house bricks with you and chock the wheels whenever you need to park on an incline... :D
