cash converters lost my iphone

If he really was such a 'nice' person & a real 'gentleman' and he'd gone to buy back his goods, he would have pointed out the mistake at the time and your iphone would have been waiting for you to reclaim it - instead of being in Morocco.

Fortunately for me, I've never had to do business with Cash Converters so I don't really know how it works.

When you take something in to them, how much contact details do they take from you?

Do they ask for your address?
