Well, the fish certainly prefer eating dead skin to live skin - that's why they are so useful because they don't touch any of the new healthy skin underneath. However, it's obviously not their favourite food because apparently they only do it if their food supply is restricted.
Wikipedia says it's been banned in the US under laws that say cosmetic procedures must be done with tools that are sterilised after each use, and you can't sterilise a fish. :rotfl:Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

Got a reply from the Halifax last week about our 10% rolling overpayment limit. Looks like we'd be safest asking them to put it in writing each time we want to overpay as Sleepy head suggested earlier. Apparently we can only pay another £57 before we would trigger an ERC   . Thats certainly a very different amount to the £1500 one person I spoke to on the phone suggested we could still overpay. I knew that wasn't right but he insisted and went all gobbledygook on me - I hate it when they do that .
So can make that small overpayment tomorrow and the mortgage comes out on the 1st anyway.
We also got a letter the day before, presumably triggered by our enquiry to ask if we wanted to reduce the monthly payment or the term so of course went for the term and its been reduced to 6 years and 7 months :j0 -
Been off work today but had a bit of a scare - why do I automatically assume I'm the one who got it wrong? My mobile reception is terrible in the house but noticed it had gone straight to voice mail - was someone ringing to check I was coming in to facilitate a group today - in about an hours time. Major panic as it wasn't in my diary and I'd no recollection of it. I'm self employed and have lots of little jobs and only do this one for a few hours every two or three months by agreement of dates in advance.
I did a search on my emails before ringing them back and was relieved to see that there was no email giving me this date or me agreeing to it! Turns out the admin thought the manager told me and vice versa but no one had  .
Phew not my fault and I'm normally very good at putting dates and appointments in my diary. Quite shook me up though and spoilt my day off a bit. On a positive note the weathers been much better today so did quite a bit in the garden :cool:0 -
Arrgh where did the warm weather go? We had two blazing hot days and now its freezing again and am sitting with a big jumper on but my fingers are soooo cold.
Well, the mortgage came out and we overpaid by £50 which is the most we can OP without taking us over the 10% limit into an ERC . We are now on £42,878 so I think we are ahead on the MFin3 challenge :j but will need to wait and see it confirmed in the chart when it comes out after 12th.
I have an appointment at the bank this week to open an ISA and transfer existing one as the rate will be better. OH is going to do the same.
On a not very MS note, we have taken on an older cat again having been catless for a year or so. He's 10 and lovely but the most long haired cat we've had so its fur balls a go-go round here. His health is ok at the mo but having been here before on several occasions we'll put some money aside for vet bills. Think we are suckers for lovely old boy cats, he's like a mini lion and has a big ruff of fur round his chin and chops - aaah.
Have a good week everyone, Teapot xx0 -
Hi teapot
I'm pleased you managed to get an answer from Halifax- even if it's not exactly what you wanted to hear. If you are at your overpayment limit but feel you can pay more than you are each month, Halifax will let you reduce your term even further (for free) and will let you put it back if you need too. I like the fact they offer this additional flexibility; this month I should have 22yrs remaining on my mortgage but with various tweaks during the last 3 years, I have reduced my term to 6 years :j.
Good luck with your mortgage free challenge
Sleepy head x0 -
Hi SleepyHead, they gave us the option of reducing the term [or the repayments] so we are now on 6 years and 7 months so getting there. Will keep checking with the Halifax and getting it in writing before we OP any further.
Thats some tweaking you did going from 22 years to 6  well done! teapot x0 -
Where did summer go? It was sunny early this morning but has rained solidly since and is dark and cold bbrrrrrr. Just made some lentil soup with winter veg to keep us warm.
Was hoping to do lots in the garden as I'm off and at home this weekend
Blah, Teapot0 -
BTW meant to ask - we didn't get the MSE email this week, neither myself or OH. Just wondered if everyone else got theirs ok?0

I got it but it was late. I think it was either Wednesday evening or even Thursday it arrived.
Can i have some of your soup please - cold here too. Where is summer?0
