Great to say there going to be none in stock betime Xmas so everyone goes out and buys one now .....this way they can hope they get all brought up....seems as if they have plenty of stock in most places , surely it would all been sold out by now if there was such a shortage:confused:

Is it really worth buying these just to try and make £15 profit on ebay

Nope, if there was only ever going to be the potential for £15 in the sale then I wouldn't have bothered as there are far less 'demanding' things to sell. I have bought into this as a complete gamble with the possibility of making a silly amount of profit compared to outlay...or maybe the probability of losing £10 on each one. Would much rather risk losing a tenner on each by Xmas time (with the chance of a crazy profit) than sell for a £15 profit now. All IMHO...

No-one knows, and if someone does they aint saying  . This is a gamble,do not risk what you can't afford to lose would be my motto.

This bloke claims to know, but again he's not a Fisher-price employee!

Think of this for a moment, do you think any manufacturer wants their product to be sitting on store shelves gathering dust this season. I don't know of any who would, and Fisher-Price has already gauged the demand for TMX Elmo with the Sept 19th release, and even though they have an idea of the demand, they still don't want them to sit on the shelves. So naturally they will "short" the supply to keep demand high.

I agree - for the same sort of money, the cuddle chimp by FurReal looks like much more lasting fun - and far less irritating.

I've just done a quick check round, and Woolies is the only shop that seems to have them in stock online. It doesn't make much sense for all their competitors to 'hoard' their own stock if they had any, fold their hands and watch just one store rake in all the profits does it?

No disrespect but this thread is not about what you think is the BEST toy...it's more about what you think is (or will be) the SCARCEST toy.

It wouldn't make sense, as it's not as if these 'reputable' stores could get away with hoarding them to sell on later at a vastly inflated price. I think the most telling thing is the fact that Amazon don't appear to have been able to re-stock since the first day?

    None taken!

But the point is that I think that this toy is very very unlikely to be the scarcest toy this Christmas - in the UK. I have not seen it advertised or heard anything about it outside this forum. I have three kids age 4, 6 & 9 and can't imagine for one minute that they would be asking for it - I don't think they have even heard of sesame street - or Elmo.

The toys that were scarce over the last couple of years were actually fun toys with real play value. I would put my money on the Doctor Who tardis or Cyberman talking head. Doctor who is a major hit and even though it hasn't been on now for few weeks, the doctor who trading cards are a major playground craze at my kids school (boys and girls alike) and a new part-work Doctor Who magazine will keep this 'alive' until Christmas. The kids are also eagerly anticipating the Christmas special which features Catherine Tate - this may be enough to keep Doctor Who the hot topic!

Buy the Elmo toy if you like - but my own personal view is that there is likely to be little (or no) profit in it.
