Maybe it will. But I don't see it myself. I could be wrong, but here are my reasons:

4.) Toys which are big in the US are not always big over here like the massively popular (but unheard of in the UK) American Girl range. It too has been selling out in US stores and trading for good money on eBay.

Am I the only one who is heartened that we don't follow the US slavishly in everything that is cultural? I did not think that elmos would be a success here and it appears that I am right(so far). Elmo can be added to all those other american things that are huge over there but anonymous over here e.g their ridiculously boring sports.

Just back from Toys R Us. Plenty in supply. But no promotion what-so-ever. The "hard to find" Top Secret version. None outside the box on display showing what Elmo can do, so will just be overlooked by shoppers.

Number on eBay: 462 items found for elmo tmx On average 10 a day seem to be added with the prices slightly about RRP. But minus eBay fees and hassle of posting, not worth the effort (IMHO)

I'd guess on Monday a load of people will have BUY IT NOW for £30.
  • Maybe nearer to christmas and people are desperate to get rid of their Elmos it may be cheaper to buy them off ebay then in the shops :rotfl:

I saw Elmo on GMTV a couple of weeks ago, then saw a real one whilst in Florida last month. I have to say, he's hilarious BUT the novelty soon wears off.

I rwally wanted to see Elmo, just to see what he's really like & there were none in Walmart & toy shops. The one I saw was at a toy shop at the airport. It was only available free if you spent over $250. You couldn't just buy it. The shop had stacks of the things.

  • Please can anyone give me advice when & where to sell the TMX Elmos I have purchased. I have been watching ebay but so far no huge prices are being achieved.

Should I wait until December, if so which is the best week to sell without being too late

Shoild I try Loot or are there any other places to advertise where items that are not availabe generally reach a good price.

Thanks for taking the time to read this

PS It is important I get a good return on investment as the profits are going into the kids savings accounts!
  • Erm dunno if you know this or if i got the wrong end of the thread.....But these Elmo things are still in stock in woolies.

If it were me, I'd sell on eBay, NOW. You have the largest number of customers. eBayers will be put off buying closer to Christmas in case sellers cannot deliver before Christmas.

You should accept the fact you are very unlikely to make much or even any profit once you take away fees etc. A fair number finishing on eBay tonight ended below RRP. Some people think Sunday night the best time of the week to end a sale, (not too sure myself) so they performed poorly.

I stand by earlier post's. There will be no demand for Elmo this year. There is no advertsing. Not in catalogues, not on TV nor a working deisplay anywhere. My local Toys r us had Elmos in a box on a shelf, which would go unnoticed by most people.

Elmo is big in the US, has been for years. He is almost unknown in the UK. When is the last time the average child saw an episode of Sesame Street?

Some DJ or TV presenter may mention the toy, but a parent looks, cannot find it so buys something else.

Children are not screaming for these toys. So there is no pressure for parents.

With in the next week or so, we will see Elmos flooded ebay and prices are far more likely to drop than increase. People will make a loss rather than profit or break even.

It all looks like supply outstripping demand.

I bought one for the youngest and given it is funny he will love it for a short period of time before we all become sick of it. As I stated in an earlier reply I was over in NY last week and you just can't get a hold of these. signs in toyrus stating no more till after christmas, sign in Duty free shop stend $300 and get one. However these just don't seem to be advertised here. Indeed so far there is no great must get its going out of stock present for this year. It was probably meant to be the Playstation3 but sony couldn't get their act together to make them. Maybe it will be the WEEEEEEEEEE or whatever its called. Personally if I had more than one and were looking to off load I would do it now. Unless Mr J Ross was suddenly to appear on his Friday night show and tell all the parents they need to have one then this thing is only going to plummet after the festive season. Anyway just my 2p worth.
