Significantly, that price is the result of 2 US ebayers bidding against each other.I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

The winner also has a History of 1 transaction. The non paying bidder may have struck again!0 -
I've reserved an TMX Elmo at Argos but looking at the packaging it says 'Warning' on the box and not 'Top Secret'. Are these gonna be worth less if I decided to sell them on eBay?

Probably not.
The Top Secret were the first and more collectable from that point of veiw, but if y9u just want to sell it before Xmas Little Johnie is going to rip the box apart by 6am Xmas morning so it's not going to be an issue0 -

To be fair, not everyone has internet access. Those who do may not even know about this site. And I'd even speculate, 99% of people in this thread would not have noticed Elmo, unless the OP started this thread.
I'm not against anyone making a few quid, either. It's just the greed of it sickens me. And I do feel sorry for the parents who can't get their children what they want and have no choice but to buy off eBay. I laugh when sellers try to justify their actions and call these parents are "stupid" or "lazy".
What you would like is everyone just to agree with your views? Or maybe the only people who post are those who are reporting the latest prices on eBay? I see no 'detractors'. This is a public forum, and the topic is the little furry muppet, so I think all views should be heard. Just my thoughts, but I'm not a mod, nor do I have any matches or fire-proof suitClasics wrote:Whilst their views are very much appreciated and respected, I feel it would be best not to get 'bogged down' in this thread responding to the 'detractor's' posts. If we do, it will just end up like the Tesco R&R discussion thread, far too long and highly irrelevant for the most part. Just my thoughts, but I'm not a mod so feel free to flame me if you wish...:D

Why they didn't use a BIN on another for less is another matter..????
what does this mean0 -
BIN = Buy It Now i.e. they could have bought it straight away for less than they bid up for it - very common on Ebay that people don't look a wee bit further down the lists

Or are even smarter and Google what they are looking for which is often cheaper on another site:rolleyes:

"Dancing Barbie meets Cyberman as Christmas looms"
By Paul Majendie
The new Tickle Me Elmo toy T.M.X. Elmo from Mattel Inc.'s Fisher-Price Division, which is already proving wildly popular in the United States, was not included in the British "Top Dozen" because it has only just been released.
"It was absolutely top secret. We were buying blind. I think they are only bringing 45,000 into the country so we don't want to highly publicise a toy parents cannot get," Grant said.
"It has been a restricted release. They have been changing hands on eBay for 50 pounds -- for an item that is retailing at 35 pounds. That just demonstrates the demand."0
