Looks like it could be hit and miss, i just tried my Voda sim in my girlfriends phone and it comes up with "Insert correct SIM", mine however accepts it no problem.

  • Thanks for this. I just ordered a phone for my husband as well as a Duvet Cover Set (buy one get one free), all with 20% off :j
  • It is definately locked - the service menu says so.

    It is CID36.

I would like to get it unlocked but I don't want a hacked firmware installed on it - I want to continue to be able to use the official firmware updater - and I fear if I take it to a phone shop they will 'unlock' it by flashing it with some unofficial firmware.

Have you tried a Vodafone sim in it - a prev poster suggested that Vodafone sims work???

Really keen on buying this phone but cant make my mind up - peoples first impressions would be interesting to hear.

Also I beleive I am right in thinking that CID36 means that software can be upgraded to W800?

Mine new phone has arrived now and I am in the process of getting use to it. It does seem however that it doesnt come with many ringtones, message tones and alarm tones.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a
    reputable
site where I can get such things...preferable free

    Thanks

Perhaps try http://www.esato.com/ for all things Sony Ericsson

don't buy this phone !!! The joypad ceases to work after a very short time , and since its soldered to the circuit board , its an expensive replacement - search the internet for many examples / cases of this problem . I have one and so has my mate and we treated it well and it only last a few months before the joypad got sticky and ceased to work . Nightmare !!

    Agree!

My partner has one (K750i) and it did exactly the same thing very quickly (is on number 2, same prob), he can't wait to ditch it:mad:

I had a K700i also, which was truly shocking! It was replaced 4 times by Vodafone (and I am exceedingly careful with things, so not operator destruction!)...joystick froze and charging socket broke on two of them...

I would never touch a Sony Ericsson EVER again!

I LOVE my Motorola Razr, which I've had for 6 months...no probs
