Photo Editing

I have a photo i want to edit its of my aunt and uncle, but there is someone in between I want to take out, nothing nasty lol,

I was just going to frame a nice picture of them for my aunt as she doesnt have one of them before he died

I've scanned it in and saved as PDF / JPEG , I use a mac and have Iphoto but not sure best way to do this.

Did the total novice (idiot) way of copying them both & paste into a word doc then saved as pdf looks ok but had to rejig the size so I have part of the photo shorter at one end than the other (does that make sense)

How can I do this please

Thanks

depends on the picture but anyone adept at photoshop could manage it ,especially with the newest version which has magical content aware fill.
You could try Gimp but it takes work to master.

    Thanks for reply

Its just regular photo , three people posed together but with space between them, they are all wearing the white tops so I managed to blend my uncles top into the person that im trying to remove and it looks ok, but i just cant get it to copy/edit the whole thing so I can resize it and neaten the edges

I Think I am having a "Blonde Moment" apologies in advance to any blondes out there......no offence meant :-)

Gimp is a free software but hard to use for the beginner. Its better to edit it with photoshop.

There is a free photo editing software called 'photo pos pro' which has layers and some quite sophisiticated tools.
However if you are using photoshop there are numerous tutorials for free just by searching online or you could try your library.

The times I've read and seen other people's results doing this comparatively easy task. I say easy because it is, I'm non technical and use a piece of software called inpaint.

I hope MSE dosen't mind, but if you look at http://worldstart.com/ and scroll to digital etc and take this post with you, and if you are able to send the pic to anyone that asks,my bet is that it would be done within 24 hrs. I have seen loads of before/after examples of similar things.

As for inpaint, that costs money, but if you subscribe to giveawayoftheday (google it), they make available a piece of software by eamil to you, that normally costs money, free for one day. Inpaint seems to come up frequently.

As this is all moneysaving, it should pass the criteria for including links.

You need to know about Layers and view some online tutorials. Try google search on Deke Pod, Layerstv, Adobetv, Scott Kelby or photoshop.

Very easy to do but the learning curve is steep and you may stumble at the starting post if you have no idea what to do. post the image and can try for you.

If you have Photoshop then there's almost always a demo on Youtube. For your specific purpose you could have a look at this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWVVsMRGDDw
