Overpayment of jobseekers allowance, help!!
Comments
-
OP ignore the comments by the usual idiots on here. You have made a mistake, but must also pay the money back. As has been said ask them for a breakdown of how they arrived at this figure and go from there.
no, signing on once and not declaring work MAY be a mistake, continuously signing on whilst working is benefit fraud.0 -
I NEED PEOPLES ADVICE ON THIS !!!
I have recieved a letter through the post regarding an overpayment of jobseekers allowance.
The amount overpaid is £1019!!! (apparently)
I cannot see how this can be valid, this has acrued from dates aug 09 to dec 09. But in that time i have calculated from my bank statements that i only recieved £944 in total of jobseekers allowance.
I cannot understand how the overpaid amount there asking for is more than what i have recieved from then during that time. (this has to be wrong, surely)
I need help here, as this is from DWP and it's worrying me.
This is due to working 11.5 hours a week but not informing Job Centre i was doing so. I was under the impression that i only had to state i was working if it was over 16 hours, as i know that is when you cannot claim any longer.
Please someone help! So i can contact them with vital information.
Thanks in advanceNatasha
When i was claiming JSA and when i went to sign on every 2 weeks, the first thing I was asked "Have I done any work in the last 2 weeks"
You have to declare any hours of work that you do. You should of been told this, or perhaps you didnt listen.
Whatever your reasons were you still have to pay all the benefits back. Now you be in debt with them as i cant see how you could afford to pay the whole amount back as you only work part time.
Next time listen to what people tell you if you cant then make sure you know what you are doing.0 -

The op as has been said was told you could work 16hrs a week and not need to declare it. Whomever told the op that was as we all know wrong. The op for whatever reason took this as the truth and most probably thought that when being asked if they were working the JSA advisor ment fulltime. The op didn't ask or need to be called a fraudster, the op asked for advice.
If it is too hard for you and the other prats on here to give advice directly related to the question without going off on your moral high horse then i suggest you get more of a life.0 -
So it is ok for you to be offensive to other people? The word hypocrite springs to mind!
* Itching to correct the shocking spelling and grammar. *
Correct all you like, if you think the words of a lets put it mildly *twit* like you bother me then think again. By the way, if you think calling someone a prat is in the same league as calling someone a benefit fraudster then you really need to get yourself out a bit more too.
Have a nice day0 -

I agree, there are too many [STRIKE]people[/STRIKE]taxpayers who are quick to condemn [STRIKE]here at MSE.[/STRIKE]those who steal from them. [STRIKE]People[/STRIKE]Fraudsters come looking for [STRIKE]advice[/STRIKE]ways out of their problems and are shot down in flames for asking.
Corrected for you.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -

I thought the whole ethos of this site was to remain impartial and non-judgemental. Give good advice, directly related to the question being asked without judgement being passed. It really does rile me when someone who may have made an innocent mistake comes here asking for advice gets as you say shot down in flames. I mean the op isn't even disputing they have to pay money back. The origional question related to the amount the agency came up with compared to the op's calculations. Out of the 40 or so posts here i can only see a few answering the origional question.

The job centre or the processing people wont see it as an innocent mistake, she took the money and said nothing. This is benefit fraud and theres no reason why it can be classed as a mistake, it states on all letters to inform the job centre if theres a change in circumstances.
The poster is classed as a benefit fraud and they wont be allowed to have access to public funds again.0
