Their petition is calling for faster eviction for 'clear-cut cases' such as the landlord previously living at that address...

It already is much faster to evict squatters through a faster process. Landlords need something like this procedure for clear-cut cases like: non-payment of rent, anti-social behaviour or where the property is the landlord's primary residence.

    Morons.

Unless they do actually mean lodgers...in which case Morons for not realising it is quicker to evict a lodger than a tenant.

Although they have dropped the "primary residence" bit from the actual petition wording, you have to laugh that they continue to include it in related publicity blurb.

"It's me primary residence, see, but I let it out to make some money whilst I went off and lived somewhere else"

It should make not a jot of difference that the owner once lived there and may want to again. Once you let the property, you should be treated as any other LL would be. Cake, have , eat.

I spoke to Mike Stimpson for 45 minutes the day after they went to Parliament on Thu 9 Sep, he is a professional landlord who runs Southern Landlords Association.

He went with them to Parliament & they thank him on their page for his "support".

I had a very very very interesting conversation with him & it does not match their deluded world.

And I thank Mike Stimpson for his support, everything he said would not be out of place on this thread.

If that's the case, why are Suzy & Jezza still publicly proclaiming that their little campaign has the support of the SLA? Or has MS been outvoted?

"One caller to The Argus said this week they knew of a person living in a tent at Devil’s Dyke."

Ah, so good to see some good quality in-depth research.

The FB page says they have 1,500 signatures on their petition? Is that the new updated petition that has the court closure point on it?

Also, what happened to Mike EDM? I can't see it on the website anymore

Got an email today from the RLA .. (glad I resigned from them now...) stating...
    Dear XXXXXXX,

Six out of ten landlords every day ask the RLA helpdesk for advice about possession - could one of them be you? Have you ever had to resort to the County Court to get your rent or your property back?
Ken Clarke, Secretary of State for Justice wants to make your job harder by closing up to 54 county courts (Click here to see the list of affected County Courts) . We believe justice is better served locally.
The RLA needs you to sign a petition against the closures which will be delivered to Downing Street later this month. So

Thank you anticipation for your support,
    Alan Ward
    Chairman
This petition is jointly organised with Landlord ~Action and Southern Landlords Association and supported by 15 other organisations – if you have signed one of these petitions already, please don’t duplicate. And thanks you for your support.

Did Suzy Butler and Jezza's campaign "against squatters" develop into this?
Latest rental property investment news - Residential Landlord
    ADDED 05/11/10

Lawyers lend weight to campaign for buy to let landlords to get speedier evictions

A law firm is supporting calls for the eviction system to be speeded up for residential landlords with troublesome tenants.

Mace & Jones, which has offices in Manchester, Liverpool and Knutsford, Cheshire, is supporting a campaign launched this month by private property landlords’ representatives, highlighting the frustration felt by landlords where there is a clear case of anti-social behaviour or non payment of rent.

Simon Murphy, a partner at Mace & Jones’ Dispute Resolution department, said: “There must be faster court action to protect the rights of landlords and I fully agree with the Rebalancing the Law campaign.

“This has been backed by the Residential Landlords Association and there is a strong feeling that now is the time to stand up for the rights of landlords.”

Yup, they're also calling for fast track eviction where the property is a primary residence. I can see all this gaining a lot of traction.
