OK, going for it big time, I would like to amend my date to Feb 12 pleaseA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

It said on the news last night November 2011 was the new prediction for rate changes. It is all absolute guesswork though isn't it.0

Just revisiting this thread ahead of the base rate decision tomorrow.
This is money appear to be going for all sorts of headline grabbing news with regard to the base rate, and they have done so again today:
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/article.html?in_article_id=532438&in_page_id=2&ct=5
Article suggests that there is only a 10% possibility of the rates going up tomorrow. More interest (sorry), at least to me, is the suggestion that December 2011 or into 2012 will be when we are likely to see increases!
If you want to have a guess as to when they will rise, post here and I'll add you into the stats at the beginning.

Base rate held at 0.5%, but we knew that was going to happen this month didn't we?

Interesting. I've only very quickly read through the article, plus only read a few comments, but it appears that the MPC has kicked the inflation into touch for now so that we may see new shoots of economic growth:

Don't know if we can read anything into that, ie rates will stay at 0.5% for some time despite the inflation?

Good to see that the vote stayed 6-3 so here's hoping for a good while yet :jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

A bit late in the day, but the BoE base rate was kept at 0.5% again today:

Makes you wonder (well me at least) - is the economy in such a mess that it could not tolerate a 25 basic point rise?
There again, a lot of the inflation is through fuel and food and increasing the base rate is not going to control the overall inflation as food and fuel are essential items, not luxury items.
I've crossed off for May:
poppyoscar, mummyofonechild, wildfrog and Tabatha Kitten
I've crossed off for June:
pawlala, Tesco Tom, unhappy_shopper and Spiggle.
Next in the firing line (July) is erm, ME :eek::eek:
From a quick scout of a few financial sites, it appears that the consensus for a rate increase is now November, but who knows.
Rather short of active participants - anyone new want to step forwards?
