Just updated post #1 with a few changes.
Next MPC decision is 7th April - just altered to reflect that.
Scrubbed out the March voters, ie newgirly (6) and LittleMissKitty (21).
Next in the firing line with April pegged in for the increase month are gallygirl (4) and alex_p (24).

The next meeting date is my birthday. They can't be mean to me on my birthday by putting it up can they?
When it does go up, how quick do you think lenders would follow suit? Ours has always been fixed before when it changed so i have no idea. I presume quicker when it goes up than when it was coming down. :rotfl:0 -
I think it will be August 2011 with an increase of 0.25% rise to 0.75%.
I'd like it to be stay at current levels until September and then we will have at least covered the ERC (nearly £2K) we paid last year to come off our fixed rate that had 6 years to go.0 -
Please may I vote too ?
My vote is 0.25% in May and another 0.25% in Sept.
1% by the end of the year.
I would be a very, very happy kitten if they stayed at 0.5% but thats not being realistic !0 -
Ok. uzubairu and Tabatha Kitten finally added into this little challenge. Grahps updated too.
Most popular at present for a change in the base rate is:
May - 3 votes
June - 4 votes
August - 4 votes
September - 3 votes
I'm a lone voice for July at present - no great or magical insight on my behalf as to July. I just thought the second half of the year and July is the second half (just)

Didn't manage to get anywhere near the PC yesterday. If you follow the business news, you should have spotted that while the European Central Bank increased it's rate by 0.25%, here in the UK the Bank of England kept the base rate at 0.5% for the 25th month.

But, there's speculation that the BoE may increase rates in May on the back on increased inflation:

As ever, post here if you want to take a guess on when the rates will rise.

Hmm. On one hand, CPI inflation has fell from 4.4% to 4%:

and UK retail sales were down in March too:

Does this give some breathing space for the MPC for their meet in May?
Your guess is as good as mine!
