I don't send any messages about postage but I do tick the box on my ebay screen which they can see on theres. I will send a message if I am posting it late but otherwise nothing.
My DSR for communication is at 4.9 so people seem happy with that.

I usually just send one to confirm its been posted and to confirm by what method.
    Same here.

@Percy - I found my comms star went up after I started doing it, but I only ever send one mail, as repeated emails provide diminishing returns and are sometimes counterproductive.

@cestlavie - as a buyer I find when I pay, my responsibility is done; anything else is on your head. Don't put your account in jeopardy by leaving anything remotely negative.

  • I always post the day after payment has been received, if I can't do that then I will email the buyer and let them know and give an estimate as to when I can post it. I think its only fair I don't like it when i'm left hanging about not knowing when my item might come.

I don't send an invoice until 24 hours after the end of auction - usually buyers pay without being sent an invoice.
Once it is paid, I pack the item up and take it to the post office - and then I send the buyer an email to say that it's
on its' way. (and thank them for prompt payment if necessary)

As a buyer, nothing irks me more than 10 emails from the seller saying "congratulations, you've won" "thank you for
bidding" "Please send me payment" "I've received your payment" "I've put your item in an envelope" "I've posted your
item" "Have you got item yet?" "can you leave feedback"....!!!!!!
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

  • I have customised the "end of auction" email that eBay sends out to say that I will send an email to the winning bidder once the item is posted (don't do BINs), which is normally the day after payment.

Once the item has been posted, I send that promised email thanking them once again for their payment and telling them which postal service was used.

As a buyer, I'd like to be told when the item was posted but don't need 5 or 6 emails in the first 30 minutes after I bought / won something ... some of them completely irrelevant as well, i.e. asking me to pay when I already have.
