I don't even bother reading emails from sellers, unless the item doesn't turn up when it should. I hate it when sellers keep me informed of where in their system my item is.
I sometimes let buyers know when I've posted, I do usually mark them dispatched, as Lindsey does above.
I want to buy & sell stuff not get myself penfriends.

I mark an item as dispatched, leave buyer feedback (you can't neg so what's the point in waiting ?) and send a very short email asking buyers to let me know when their package has arrived, they usually do this by leaving me positive feedback. :D

The sellers that send a billion auto emails thanking you for buying, for payment, asking for feedback a week later etc etc do my head in.

I purchased a book off ebay yesterday & got one of these sellers, 4 emails, but its not even been posted yet:rotfl:

I send an invoice and thank the buyer for bidding if they don't pay for a couple of days, I mark items despatched in My Ebay, leave feedback for the buyer after sending and fill in the recorded delivery info in Paypal if sent recorded (paypal says it sends an e-mail to the buyer with this info). I have 5 stars for communication so for me seems to be the right balance

I send a quick thanks for the payment, if the item says 2 days to post i usually say ill try and get it out in 1 as they paid fast. Gives you a little leway if theres any probs and seems to keep most happy.

Their should be a big warning on eBay when youre about to leave DSR's for dispatch, as most people think this means how long it took to arrive, rather than how long it took to post from date of purchase.

Totally agree, i had someone moan a 2nd class item took 5 days to arrive from date of paying! They then marked my dispatch dsr down when it was posted the same day! Makes me cross.

I also hate the way you get a problamatic buyer who leaves you a neg and doesn't email first and just for the hell of it marks all your dsrs down to 1 when in reality they were only bothered by 1 of the aspects such as description. Only happened once mind but why should they mark comms down when they haven't even bothered to contact you!

I always say thanks for the custom and the item has been sent. If the seller does similar to me he gets 5 stars for communication. If they dont and I get the item quick they get 3.

Buyers like you we do not need.
  • Hi, I buy a lot of items from ebay and most of the sellers never contact me, and if they do it's usually to say something has gone wrong. On the other hand I send a message once I have posted thanking them and telling them their item is on the way.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

i'd never lead fb before buyer. you have only one recourse to review a bad sale/malicious buyer and that is through your feedback on them. you can either a) withold it or b) leave a subtle neg it in a way that can be allowed.
