Just had carvery at La Mon House Hotel at Gransha yesterday. The quality and choices etc were absolutely excellent. I think it has improved greatly since becoming a 4* hotel. Would have no hesitation whatever in recommending it. Best I have experienced in quite a few years. Cost was £19pp. :T

Brilliant!. That's not what I wanted or indeed expected to hear. As my luck would have it I am taking my Dad and family there tomorrow for the carvery lunch. How long ago was it since this happened if you don't mind me asking? Can't make up my mind now whether to go or cancel.
This is on going, any time I've been in with my job, it's always a tip backstage. Sorry!
  • We were at the clarion yesteday and it was great. As said above £12 if pre pay 15 if u just turn up. However it was very busy so prob better to book and pay. The starters were soup, 2 kinds, hot starters chicken wings garlic bread and cocktail sausages and loads of cold starters, salad, pasta salad, rice salad, and peppered mackeral and a really tasty side of salmon and more. As it was help yourself we had loads! Main was beef, turkey, and ham, portions very generous, I had 2 slices of beef and 1 of turkey, my oh was given 2 really thick slices of beef and 1 of ham, with different types of potatoes and veg,and chips! My dad did go up for seconds and wasn't challanged. Dessert was again help yourself and a huge selection of cakes, trifle, porfiteroles and loads more. There was also an ice cream machine and cones. Tea and coffee was also help yourself.
We were a group of ten and had a nice big table, service was good although a bit slow for drinks but it was very busy. Would def go again, we were there for over 2 hours and weren't rushed away.
There were some children running around, but it is a family carvery so suppose it's to be expected.
  • Went to the Sunday Indian buffet and the first problem was that they had no draught beer as advertised--but they had bottles of cobra which they offered at £4:95 per bottle. The starters were cold and tasteless--the dips were from a pataks bottle. The main meals were chicken curry which was a watery horrible broth. There was a lamb vindaloo which tasted like something from the loo and a few vegetable offerings which both my wife and I could not recommend to an enemy.
We left half way through the main course and when paying the bill was asked did I enjoy the meal. I stated that it was the worst indian meal I had ever tasted--and the reply was "you should come to our a la carte at night"---I informed them that it was my intention never to set foot on the premises---can I just say that I was unable to go to work today as I have been feeling unwell since 8 o'clock last night--enough said.

Closer to my home is the http://www.thebelfraycountryinn.co.uk/ standard pricing of around £15.95 and kids half price, 3 course plus coffee or tea and entertainment all set in the stunning ballroom.

Went there in mid-week. Food was great, but it was all served out by staff onto smallish oval plates. I could've done with a big slice of pie to be honest.;)

Old style self-service Carveries seem to be hard to find these days:(

Best Carvery ever. Think its about £15.00 for full 3 courses but well worth it

Yep lovely spot bt be prepared rob bank b4 u go and dont expext to be there too long. Took son there 2 celebrate exam results only in asked what we wanted 2 drinks, menu produced orders taken, drink arrived + waiter came bk 2 say meal ready, marched down stairs and as soon as we had eaten our starters, plates cleared, main course out and after main course didnt want desert so felt we had to leave as we were PESERTERED by staff "would we like anything else". Cost for 2 adults + 2 teenagers £160.00 and that only included 2 drinks. Good job they took credit cards as had nt enough cash with me. Hopefully daughter will nt want to go there when her results come next year!
  • Can't recommend the Tullyglass carvery enough, been 8 times this year alone - most recent Fri past - and the food has always been exquisite.

Totally agree dark knight, I know different people can have different experiances, and sorry to hear people have had bad ones, but my family and I have been going to Tullyglass for years and never had any complaints. Theres always a very wide selection of food available, and there arent many carverys out there who will do a steak for you for no extra cost!
