Mr Oink, putting it into 'tard' speak as you put it, is clearly why we haven't warmed to you as all your posts you come across as someone who doesn't help people but enjoys lecturing them. You obviously have far greater knowledge about this matter than me but don't put it across in the nicest way.Anyway, whilst being insulting & condescending is easy to you, the rest of us would rather help the OP with some suggestions that may or may not work according to whose point of view you believe.0

No I said "May" it implies nothing. Some of the arty farty Hi-fi types are said to make that claim. I don't make it myself, never have, never will. Your assumption is wrong - but I understand you may have missed the subtlety.
You're correct about your use of "may". However you said "Whilst a belt drive may reduce some coupling noise from a motor".
This means the belt "may" reduce the noise which exists. Not that the belt will reduce noise that "may" be there. But I understand how you may have missed the subtletyIf *you* wanted to make quality transcriptions of vinyl records would you personally recommend plugging a turntable into the average mic input of the average computer soundcard? Is that your personal recommendation?
Did I personally recommend plugging a turntable into an average soundcard's microphone socket?
Did I actually suggest anywhere in this forum that someone should do that?
I believe I said I had done it in the past and achieved good results.First of all there is no insult. If you don't understand something clearly written then I think I have the right to declare you comprehension as !!!!!!
Guess that makes you !!!!!! too then.
You still haven't shown where I can read a definition to a word you invented but expected me to understand.

I think you'll find my original post and advice is helpful and correct. If trolls then wish to start arguing I'm quite happy to stand my ground. I don't care about people warming to me - I have very broad shoulders. Provided I contribute a technically correct answer then I'm happy with that.
I think you mistake defending a point of view in the face of forum trolling for 'insulting & condescending'. But that's the great thing about opinions. Everyone has one, none of them have any more value than the other.
Funny, you never denied lecturing people !!
Secondly, calling people retards is regarded as an insult and was meant to be - shame on you !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

You know what 'works' means?
Do you have trouble with any of these:
semi-detached, semi-final ?Funny, you never denied lecturing people !!0 -
Mr Oink....I could spend hours picking holes in the grammar and sentence construction in your posts, but you wouldn't appreciate it or learn from it.
It's quite obvious that you're arrogant enough to insult others for suggesting alternatives and unwilling to accept that on occasions even you could be wrong.
Do you realise every post you've made in this thread is a contradiction or correction of someone else?
Trolling perhaps?
I've better things to do.....like fumble about with cotton buds and microphone sockets.

I'm not going to get involved in this argument but I would say the advice to use a mic input is wrong unless your happy with low quality recordings.0
