It isn't 'pants' if it worked for him - god if there is one thing I hate is forum 'know-it-alls' - it is obviously something he tried and worked ok.
They are nearly as bad as the forum clowns that offer no advice and mouth off knowing little or nothing :rotfl:

Plugging a turntable into a microphone input may semi work and produce a recording, however, you would probably need to have challenged hearing not to realise how bad it sounds - this may help:

So did I. At post #2. Then I expanded on it.

Fair comment Googler - but then you did start going a bit audiophile/boring on some of the later bits !!!!:D;) BUT you weren't the prime suspect !!

Nope. Just offering solid, good advice. Still, if you are intimidated by that and feel insecure then I suggest it shows flaws in your character - not mine :rotfl:

I refer to my previous post, if it worked for him then it worked for him. Whilst it may not be acceptable to you, it was for someone else.

Oh, what does 'semi-work' mean ? It either does or doesn't work !

He even claimed that the noise from a motor would affect the sound by saying "Whilst a belt drive may reduce some coupling noise from a motor....."
    No, I said:

"Whilst a belt drive may reduce some coupling noise from a motor - I've never found this to be an issue having worked in a commercial studio transcribing vinyl."

Reading and comprehension are not the skills of a God, just the non-!!!!!! as a rule of thumb.

Allow me to put it into 'tard' speak. It means the results will not be optimal and the quality poor. Understand, or need some help with that? If so start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIAA_equalization or seek the advice of a 'know all' or 'God'. (Aka 'not the clueless')

Reducing some noise implies there is noise.....because you claimed the belt reduced it.

But hey, I suggested one method that worked and you basically said it was "pants".
You also said there was noise from a motor.
And finally said it may have "semi worked". If it was "pants" then it didn't work....but now it "semi worked"?? Maybe you should read before you post.

You still don't know my level of expertise in audio technology or the audio program I used to record. Levels and equalisation can be easily adjusted......as you obviously know.:D

Since I'm one of the "'tards" you insultingly refer to, can you point me to a dictionary definition of "semi work"?

Incidentally, I can argue all day about what's good or not, but insults will not be tolerated. Whether I'm right or you're right is not a reason for insults

First of all there is no insult. If you don't understand something clearly written then I think I have the right to declare you comprehension as !!!!!!, given you have failed on numerous occasions to understand a point correctly.

No I said "May" it implies nothing. Some of the arty farty Hi-fi types are said to make that claim. I don't make it myself, never have, never will. Your assumption is wrong - but I understand you may have missed the subtlety.

No I did not - see above - I cannot be held responsible for your comprehension but hopefully it is clear to you now?

No - pants means rubbish to most people (after the common use of the word for an item of apparel that is) - again - I cannot be held responsible for your comprehension..

Judging it based on your comprehension ability or some other metric? Perhaps if you answer this it will clarify your level of skill.

If *you* wanted to make quality transcriptions of vinyl records would you personally recommend plugging a turntable into the average mic input of the average computer soundcard? Is that your personal recommendation?

Mr Oink, putting it into 'tard' speak as you put it, is clearly why we haven't warmed to you as all your posts you come across as someone who doesn't help people but enjoys lecturing them. You obviously have far greater knowledge about this matter than me but don't put it across in the nicest way.

Anyway, whilst being insulting & condescending is easy to you, the rest of us would rather help the OP with some suggestions that may or may not work according to whose point of view you believe.
