I wouldn't accept any offers from anyone who hasn't seen the car, and I would never offer on a car unless I had seen it.
I have seen some right rubbish that people (especially private) have advertised as immaculate.

I disagree. I've bought 4 cars on ebay and didnt view any of them first. You can normally tell from the way the advert is written if the seller is genuine. The ones I bought all had lengthy descriptions and anything that wasn't mentioned I asked about. If I'd turned up and it wasn't as described I would have walked away. I've yet to make a wasted journey...

Seriously, all you need to do is apply a bit of common sense ;)

Exactly, it depends on what price and how far the car is from me. I bought a bmw for £2k in the past and didnt view it as I chose not to; this is because car was 60miles away and i would waste my journey if I didnt win the auction. Won auction, turn up test drove the car and no problem and paid up.

But did you buy them with best offers or did you bid on them?
Most of the time when people make offers it's to get the car at the cheapest price and to take out other bidders.
For me to accept an offer I would expect the person to view the car and make sure it is what they want. This is what I did recently with a classic Mini, I had loads of phone calls and emails, the first person that actually got off their backsides and came to view it bought it.

He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket
  • Well I took the offer of £650. The buyer is happy to wait till the reg plates are changed over & is going to do cash on collection.

Now fingers crossed it works out.
