Halloween 'trick or treat' ideas...?

We love halloween in my house!
Last year I had several children at my door, I made up small pumpkins(plastic ones) from morrissons and put fruit and sweets inside...
This year the kids are going to a halloween party in the school, but I will still hand out sweets/fruit to kids who come to my door....
Try lidls for sweets and they often have good fruit which you can use as well.0 -

In the past, I've normally bought a huge tin of Roses or Quality Street to hand out, but - aside from 50% of them going down MY throat whenever I pass the front door (oops) - I was wondering if anybody has any 'Moneysaving' ideas for this year....?
(apart from telling the little beggars to pee off coz I'm not giving this year....lol...)
I don't mind making stuff, as long as it's not too expensive......
Hi there Sherratthead,
We always buy a couple of bags of goodies from Aldi. The bags are great because they have sweets and toys in them.
Also get a pumpkin on 31st cheaper and cut it out and put a candle in it. Also bought from Aldi.
My OH is really naughty beacause he always dresses up puts a green light bulb outside and has scary music playing.
Most of the children love it but he scares one or two of them .Well thats what it's all about. We do end up getting endless children at the door. If they have made an effort with their costume then they get a treat. If its older teenagers who are just messing about and haven't even tried then he won't give them anything. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0 -
OP-I'd suggest decorating your house or putting a pumpkin outside lit up so that the local kids know they are welcome. As for decorations etc, have you looked in your local pound shop?

My DD was born on 31st October so we always decorate the whole house - we actually dont get many kids around where I live though because we are a bit out of the way or maybe it is because I dress up as a witch LOL I find ASDA brilliant for halloween deorations and treats ( also very cheap too ) and this year we have got a little witch outfit for our puppy from pets at home :rotfl::cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

Blimey, some very strong beliefs in response......
Thanks for all your thoughts though guys.
I think I'll pop in to Aldi, Netto or Lidl and see what cheap sweets I can buy.
I honestly hadn't thought about the issue of me cooking stuff and now reallise it's not such a good idea so I'll go with shop-bought. Probably cheaper anyway.
I especially like the idea of Licorich laces for rats tails and rainbow drops for witches dandruff..... I do like the 'pretend-to-be-scary' thing so I might put some of these into envelopes and do the scary lucky dip thing.....
Thanks again
