:)When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :)

Morning everyone  hope everyone is happy today. Ah its payday tomorrow, for the 2nd month in a row I've had a positive bank balance, strange-good feeling in that! And for the first time in about 8 months I am not completely skint :D

SJ1 I've been thinking aout your shopping bill and have some thoughts. If it were me, although its more complicated I would do a big/monthly shop at Asda (as its further away I'd go less often) and get the things that are good value/cheaper there. I would also then split the rest of my shopping between Sains & Tescos. I buy value/basics for a lot of things, pasta, potatos etc that makes no differrence if its basics as its still the same ingredients. I would also try to work out the times when things are reduced at your local supermarkets and try to shop around those times to get as much reduced as possible & freeze. hth x

ok better do this list & get myself ready...
  • [STRIKE]drive carefully to work & back[/STRIKE]
  • update expenses form for my 4 miles yesterday (:o) nope but have made a note of it all to update tomorrow...
  • check onepoll
  • [STRIKE]grab something from the cupboards for lunch[/STRIKE] leftover mousaka mmmmmmmmmmm
  • [STRIKE]get steaks out of freezer for dinner[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]be efficient at work, and "try to keep my head..." [/STRIKE] kinda, got a reasonable amount done, and had some potential good news (:j) someone has expressed an interest in one of my vacant positions (fingers crossed!)
  • water toms
  • [STRIKE]charge phone at work[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]write cheque for overpayment to CB  so I can post tomorrow[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
  • maybe clean my car in my lunch break ;) (I vacuum it briefly yesterday as I thought I was taking clients in my car, its amazing what a difference it makes!) nope :o
  • order another hose for shower  we have been without a shower now for about 6 weeks (bought 2, 1 had a hole in so we returned & got a refund the other hasn't arrived and the seller just returned the money on ebay when I emailed. So what a false economy, I've probably run up my water bill higher than the expensive hose in B&Q!)
so that's me, have a great day everyone x

    - factor in £50 owed by DM
    - tell DM what you want for your birthday :D

My list today is boring, boring, boring

I haven't done anything so far except enjoy a quiet cup of tea before anyone else gets up!

I hope to achieve the following:
    • check banking
    • check for surveys
    • feed and water chookies and ask for at least 3 eggs as i've got orders to fulfil tomorrow!
    • take bike to work to use less petrol
    • take lunch to work to avoid the bakery
    • email agency regarding a better job they're advertising
    • dinner from stores
    • try to enjoy my day at the horrible job I have at present
That last one shouldn't be too hard. It's an accounts day, which I love, and my horrible boss is in USA leaving the nice boss and us three "girls" in peace. :)

  • Morning all

Not a good start for me today as I'm having to call in sick at work as I'm in a lot of pain and general discomfort so my DFW things to do today are:-

    • Ring Midwife and ask all my pain related questions
    • Go to Post Office and collect parcels - or get OH to do it
    • Tidy house
    • Pack for my long weekend in Newcastle
    • Write birthday cards and try and get cheap wrapping paper
    • Sort laundry
    • Change bed linen - if at all possible
    • Lie down a lot and drink fluids as ordered!
Wishing everyone a pain free day :)

Aw PP, sorry you're in pain. Hope it eases soon.

Morning All :hello: It's sunny today, and I'm off to the market with friends and will buy the wedding present that Popeye and I agreed on.

    So today I have/will:
    • make supper from whatever I can find. Popeye ate so much of the chicken the other night that the chicken, pasta and avo salad will be a case of hunt the chicken :rotfl: - serves him right, I warned him
    • I'm OK, I'm having lunch out, and we pay our own way at this market so my economy helps ME for a change :D
    • carry on knitting :p
    • checked banking
    • contact DS1 and arrange for him to pick me up at the airport. - he owes me the return favour :D
    • read the papers on-line
    • catch up on the Archers on-line
    • 20 mins on the CT (didn't do this yesterday :naughty: )
    • catch up on correspondence
    • go to the police station to have my certificates verified so I can post photocopies
    • apply for a job in the paper

Have a great day everybody :A
  • Thanks Oliveoyl

Think I'm just going to have to suffer until my daughter puts in appearance! But it will make me feel better when I ring the midwife only 32 minutes to go until they are there - not that I'm counting or anything!

    Morning all

Well I’m improvising and cut and pasting the list from word!

Today – lots to do (as always) J
    So far:
    Fed the hens
Threw the mutt into the garden for a scampet and put him in the car
Brought brekkie/lunch – vague plan for omelettes for tea
Dropped DD at bus (with her lunch)
Asked DS to remember his lunch
    Free cuppa at work
Put my £2 for eggs into the hen food money jar

    To do
Dog to walk him round work later (save petrol) and take him to the beach on the way home after work with DD
Order milk to be delivered (saves those ‘just for milk’ shopping trips which cost us £20)
    Text a pal about eggs
    Check email for amazon stuff
Package up a tea pot for an MSE chum (post at weekend)
Do some change of address post and walk dog to post box
Reply to a couple of emails
Try and sort the new energy meter (it’s not fixed in right I don’t think)
    Empty dishwasher
Hang up some HC when home – too murky looking before we left
Work hard try and get a section drafted
    Charge phone at work
Speak to chap about the evening class (growing veggies) that we might do again this year
Empty one box from moving (I’m trying to do one a night)
Water and feed tomatoes – pick ripe ones and freeze
Same for the basil – it needs a hair cut as does the sage – freeze them in bags in freezer

Must check the banks later – waiting to see if my tax credits will ever appear again (I’m one of the unlucky ones, who thought they’d put their claim form in – rechecked by phoning, couldn’t get through for over a week, posted a letter stating all the stuff they needed to know – and it turns out they closed my claim anyway – so after a 40 minute wait on the phone and a bit of a chat – they’ve said they’ll reprocess the claim – but no idea when) its a lot of money not to have and I’m not sure when they’ll back date it from (MY OWN FAULT) just lost my eye on the ball for a little while.

Anyway also waiting for EX to put some money in that I’ve spent on DS (£125 so that would be handy)

Thanks for starting the thread DNM :) hello to all :)
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:

Morning all! Hugs to PP - hopefully you'e spoken to the midwife by now?

An odd sort of day for me - going for the scan to see what's wrong with me, managed to pack OH off to work, he's more worried than me and wanted to come! Easier to go by myself, I don't like being fussed over (he's very well intentioned though).

    Other things....
    • Walk dog for free exercise
    • Checked bank - the cheque payment for the old nasty secured loan (what was I thinking?) has cleared and they can now officially bog off! :j I still owe my bank the money but its all manageable and non-scary.
    • Have to get a grip on the budget to see if I can claw back at least £50
    • Drive sensibly to scan - only have 2 bars of petrol left and I want it to last until next week
    • All food from stores
    • Do a bit of school work later
    • Wash towels - looks like they'd dry today
    • Do surveys
    • Phone mum later
That's all for today so far - have a good day!
