Citroen C1 - any thoughts ?

    Peugeot is a darn good little car but even the new seal, dealer fitted, has not stopped the leak.(tax now £20.00)

  • French cars can be.................. Interestingly expensive to maintain.
  • No boot space.

    The 107 seems very popular round my area. Hardly see the C1 or the Aygo.

    How much more does it cost for a Toyota badge on a car produced at a factory in Czechia?
    If you want warranty, buy a vauxhall, lifetime warranty or 100,000 miles from this month for the first owner.

    A Vauxhall warranty with all of it's imposed restrictions, no thank you.

    At the end of the day, being a 'little old lady' I very much doubt you will ragging the valves off round town at night or at Maccies, so buy anything you like the look of, there will be very few differences between any of them. All will return great MPG if you buy the 1.0l petrols, you will be able to fit your shopping in no problem, nothing large from the garden centre though ;) All are sold in the thousands so parts are abundant and cheap and if you know a good garage any repairs will not be expensive for you. Just make sure you service them as per the book and buy one with some service history so you can at least know its had some services done on it before if you arent buying new.

    If you are buying new, go for the longest warranty unless you are thinking of getting rid after 2 years etc

    Thanks to everyone for being so helpful. All I'm looking for is an outsize shopping trolley, so not much space isn't a problem. My small village has an excellent garage (they race and rally) so any servicing/repairs won't be a problem if I buy used and the Citroen dealership is a v short bus ride away if I buy new.
    Low fuel consumption/tax/insurance are a consideration, but now that I understand the C1 can be badged by several manufacturers as their own it seems to me that buying any one of your suggestions makes very little difference.
    I think my days of doing handbrake turns are over, but confess if I bought what I wanted it would be an XK 120. Or a Series 1 Landy that can be fixed with a hammer, spanner and bucket of water.
    I can take my time deciding what to buy, so welcome any other suggestions and experiences.

    Hi Errata

    I recently went through the same exercise with my dad. He looked at the C1/107/Aygo the Kia Picanto, the Hyundai i10 and the Suzuki Alto.

    The Picanto, the i10 and the Alto all had the advantage of having 5 doors.
    The i10 was the best equipped in terms of standard equipment.
    The Kia had the best warranty, 7 years.
    He believed that the C1/107/Aygo all had a flawed driving position; the pedals were all offset to the left.

    Ultimately he chose the Picanto, because taking the warranty, the price/cost to change and the fact that Which magazine has named it as Britain’s most reliable new car into consideration, it was in his/our opinion the best value.

    They'll never be over.
    Buy what you like to drive, and enjoy it.

    If you stick to the C1, there are more 107's as the C1 is the cheapest of the range, and the 107 had good deals new to price match, so it was perceived as better at a "cheap" price, so sold more.
    Toyota was just overpriced.
    They're all the same, so go for whichever is the best deal for you.
