I'm pretty sure that not everyone is entitled to Child Tax credit?!
It depends on your circumstances. Some people on £70k can claim CTC.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Here's a thought. For everyone family that has been claiming CB and genuinely doesn't need it and keeps it to pay mortgages, savings etc. and who claims it cos they are "entitled".
If these people hadn't claimed it the cost of CB to the taxpayers would be so much less and people who are borderline may not be in a position whereby they may now lose it.
If your circumstances change and you now need it of course claim.Smile, you are beautiful:)0 -
having read through here i think i agree with cb being paid for 2 children, but maybe introduce it from April next year so people who have more children still get cb but from april if you have any more than 2 children you wont get any more cb (the chinese must have had a similiar problem when they brought in the rule that people can only have 1 child) also my partner is self employed so until he does his tax retun we do not know how much he has earnt so cannot claim ctc as the system is so complex as it goes on last years income but you have to say if you think you have earnt more this year or you have to pay it back we dont claim, but if they made cb like this it would mean maybe last year we could of claimed but didnt know and this year weve earnt to much so cant claim it would be a nightmare for us,0

Fortunately we could live without it. We are not highly paid but better off than alot of others. Its removal would not interfere with our lifestyle.0

I am expecting my first child who is due by the end of this month. I do not need that 80 pounds to be a vital or essencial part to raise my child, however, after paying tax for more than ten years I do feel more comfortable if I can get sth back. I want my child to be equally treated. CB I guess is the only benefit that is equally given to everyone without considering their incomes. This is some sort of equity. I am not a high income earner but I do feel that current tax and benefit system is a discrimation and punishment to people who are hardworking and more talented or capable.a half qualified cat

Why should anyone with a high-er income be entitled to this?!
If they already have an income and get a certain amount, I think CB should be disallowed to them, as the people who really need it, such as people working part time need it more!0 -
...errr...because most people without children never get anything back.....
and if anyone from the Government reads this "Many of us without children don't agree with people having child benefit of any description for ANY children - not just those having more than 2". Our voices dont get heard so much - so it needs to be said now.
You can still qualify for a host of benefits depending on your situation, children are part of society too.
I hate these type of comments, they always put me in mind of the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!! lol
If you choose not to have children that's up to you, and I have the feeling you would be anti CTC, free nursery, bascially anything family orientated.
But these children you seem to begrudge so much will be tomorrows, doctors, nurses, carers, police, fireman, support workers, plumbers, etc............ I am sure in your latter years you are likely to have to rely at some point on someone else's children as you won't have your own to help you, whether it be health or social care, unless you are extremely lucky and you have expcetional health to the end. So why not invest in these children now? Bringing up children properly guiding them to becoming good contributing members of society is not easy at the best of times.:hello:0 -

Higher income means they put more in their jobs and the tax system, they might not need to be rewarded but at least not being biased. To work part-timely means they do not need a full income otherwise they will work full-timely. I am a part-timer because I am not bothered to work full-timely, but if I do need the income I will work more instead of finding solutions from benefit system.a half qualified cat
