how do you know they don't need it?
Has someone hi-jacked your account ??? !!!!! I thought no-one, ever, ever needed ANY state benefit in this country ? Get a hold of yourself man, you're slipping...It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
i would be happy to see CB stopped completely as long as it is stopped for everyone.
i don't want scroungers getting my money. i pay the tax, i deserve some back. the scrounger deserves nothing.0 -

At least we know that child benefit will stop when a child reaches 18,
I wish. Child benefit can now be paid until the "child" is age 20 if they are in full time education (not advanced education). The law changed for that a couple of years ago according to the Benefits board. Tax credits gets paid with that too. Plus EMA also.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Well for a start if noone had kids it would pretty much end the world lol.
We paid tax before having children and will pay tax once they are grown up during which periods we will effectively pay for other peoples children. I have already said I am happy for the child benefit and tax credit to be limited and we would manage.
The same arguement could be applied to other stuff, like we don't drink but our tax goes towards policing drunks in city centres and the NHS bill for drinkers, we also don't smoke and pay towards the NHS bill for them as well.

Not to mention that the children will grow up, get jobs, pay taxes, which will pay for policing, health, pensions etc.
It's so easy to just throw the word 'scroungers' around. I wonder how those struggling to find employment following redundancy, struggling to keep a roof over their heads, maintain some semblance of normality for their children etc. feel about being labelled a scrounger?
What's that? They should've had insurance? Thhey should've saved for a rainy day? They shouldn't have had children until they knew they were financially able to cope in case of emergency?
Yeah, yeah...........I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Any idea of how this EU law supports British parents, i.e. how many British parents work elsewhere and send benefits from other countries back to their children over here?
It always feels like it's one-way traffic!
Should work both ways. I've no idea of the numbers, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

LOL. If only that was true.0 -
Because when we are elderly we need there to be young adults to keep society functioning. I know when I hit 70 I want there to be doctors and nurses to care for me when I'm ill, binmen to collect my rubbish, farmers to grow my food, truck drivers to drive the food to the shops, sales assistants to sell me food.
Most of the people I will rely on to keep my life nice haven't been born yet. We all need children to keep being born. In many ways the childless will become even more reliant on strangers. If I have children I have some hope they will help take care of me one day if I need it. If you don't have children you will be completely reliant on other people's.
I dont disagree with your sentiment , as the tory dems rip the life out of the services again then children will be the carers of parents.
Those fortunate enough to have bought their homes will have to have 3 generations living there for them all to survive...we will be going backwards as a caring society.
There wont be an nhs to care for us , there is already a 3 teir system of healthcare in the uk , our pensions have ben decimated , savings robbed by playing inflation to run away debts....so folk will need kids to supply this care and income , at least to their own family.
but i dont agree with paying for people to breed them from my pocket , in that if it applys to the poor then to everyone. How is this any different from those bemoaning paying for them being born to those on benefits.Mostly those that slag off the poor broadbrush anyone on benefits and at the same time claiming the same benefits and others by another name.
My council tax will be paying for the council services , like bins.I dont do nhs so not paying for doctors , I pay for the same doctors privately. My custom pays for the rest of your argument like farmers and checkout operators....am I expected to be paying for them being born just to fill these jobs , or to look after thier elderly families from either benefits or child allowance/tax credits ?
We cant have it both ways.Have you tried turning it off and on again?0 -

Yeah, yeah...........
i wouldnt label anyone who has worked and been made redundant etc - a scrounger. a scrounger to me is someone who has never worked, is happy to never have worked and has no intention of ever working.Moved into dream house - 17/08/12
