    Hi everyone

Apologies for being AWOL but we had the bad news we were expecting, DH is redundant at the end of March  :( I can't go into too much detail but the process has been unfair and we're 'negotiating' payment so we should have a nice little lump sum coming to us.

However, that's got to pay for everyday living expenses until he can find a new job. He has 'feelers' out and now it's been confirmed he can start to actively look for something. The last 5 weeks have been awful and it's a bit of a weight off if I'm honest, at least now we know what's coming.

I also know that we'll have to apply for benefits if he can't find anything - that thought fills me with delight (NOT !!!!) Just at the end of the tax year too so tax credits claim will have to be re-done as well and we all know how easily they get things wrong !

Anyway, we have to take each day as it comes and just hope that he can walk out of one job, into another. If that situation happens then we'll be able to pay off all the debts and have a little holiday plus put a little bit by for emergencies too so, here's hoping alls well that ends well. Keep you fingers x'd for us !

So, it's payday again and the DD for the c/c has come out. I've managed to overpay another £145 this month (not quite as much as I'd hoped but we had some unexpected expenses that I had to dip into the tax refund for :o).

I did get a nice little cheque in the post from my house ins co - apparently 5 years ago I overpaid for 2 years, I have no idea how that happened but it resulted in an £80 cheque :j.

Weight is coming off nicely but this week has been hard as it was DH birthday meal out and we stayed at parents this weekend so eating was a bit 'hit and miss'. We shall see tomorrow night if I've lost anything this week. I'm expecting to stay the same but I'm going to try and do a bit of exercise today/tomorrow which will hopefully mean I lose a little bit :D

Right time to get the kiddy winks to school, one is off with a sickness bug yesterday/today (typical, off all week and gets a bug the day she's supposed to go back !) :( Not sure where she's picked it up from either but a day in bed and some soup later might just do the trick ;)

  • So sorry about the redundancy news. Fingers crossed he can find a new job ASAP. Ref tax credits it should be too bad as it counts from April 5th ish so in a way good timing.

Sorry to hear about the redundancy, fingers crossed your DH gets a new job quickly.

Good news about the insurance cheque though!

Wow how time flies ! Big apologies for being AWOL ................ lots has happened over the last couple of months (all good I might add!)

DH managed to find another job more or less straight away, better money, better hours and much closer to home.

I'm working (part time) in a little retail store and loving it. Supervising a couple of days a week so maybe scope for promotion in the future.

The best thing though is that all debts are now paid off from DH redundancy money :j :j . So, a clean slate. I'm thinking that someone up there is looking down on us and smiling :D, we both realise how lucky we've been and are determined to use this as a completely fresh start. Now begins the frugalising so that we can save up for the things we want.

So, I'll close this little chapter (and diary), you'll probably catch me over on the OS boards (oh, and the slimming world board, that's the next things to go - me big bottom ! :rotfl:)

Thank you to all those who took the time to reply to my ramblings, and to the lurkers too (I'm often found doing the same on other diaries :p).

    xx
