Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Wednesday 18thAugust 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.
Morning all! just popped on before leaving for work and thought I'd start the thread.
Not much OSing here today due to work. Hopefully I'm off later for a trip to Malvern with work so fingers crossed it stops dry. Tea for me is HM quorn sweet and sour, not sure abot DH. DS is off partying tonight - a friends 18th so he wont be here as they are all camping there overnight.
(((hugs))) to those in need of one. I'll be back later to catch .
Have a great day all x

Morning folks. Bright start to the day down this way, but i would not want to be camping looking at the forecast.
Made pasties for tea. Of course I made a huge one for myself about a foot long. Great idea but a foot of pasty does not digest as well as you think. I think I am still full!:o
Work at 1pm, so a haircut, bit of weeding and sorting and then shirt and tie for the first time in 5 days....
Cheers folksNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
morning all
off to work in a few mins after ive had bacon and eggs for breakie
think its going to rain today but i have asked DD1 to do some washing if it doesnt
the house looks so untidy i hope they will tidy up in my absence today but i wont hold my breath
Diva hope you will be posting regularly again we have all missed you
have a good day all xx0 -
Hi everyone - a bit dull here at the moment but the forecast is good, apparently. The clouds seem to be burning up quickly. I hope it does - I missed a good drying day yesterday because, for some reason, I just couldn't be bothered to put the washing machine on!
I have a few errands to run this morning and I believe I am being a plasterer's labourer this afternoon - can't wait (not)!
I have some left-over cooked new potatoes from yesterday's dinner, so we'll be having those fried with some mince, onions, garlic and gravy, and whatever veg I can find. That's tonight's dinner sorted - just have to decide what's for lunch.
I've booked the ferry back to the UK for our trip back next month; now that it's booked, I can definitely start looking forward to it and counting down the sleeps! I am so looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Well, the BM is beeping at me and the kettle is singing my song, so I shall pop by a bit later.
Hope you all have a great day, and that the sun shines wherever you are!

Morning All!
We had a visit from some friends from way-back on Monday - they came for lunch and left at lunchtime yesterday!!! Felt quite pleased that I had clean bedding and a house sorted enough not to feel worried by this! Yesterday's washing is still hanging in the conservatory, but is probably not too far off being dry. I have another load in the WM as I type. paperwork first today then a visit planned with a friend to London to see some galleries. However, DS called late to say he is back in hospital again and doesn't think he'll be out again. I hope that's just panic talking, but I do know the level of pain relieving drugs is climbing higher and higher. He said he knows he has killed himself with drinking. last night I decided I'd visit him instead today, but this morning am thinking I'll give him the option and ask whether he wants me today or tomorrow as he may be more himself by then. Am I just being an ostrich here? The other big issue is we are off on holiday next week including a visit to Oberammergau. I've wanted to see the Passion Play since I was a child and if I don't go I may not be able to in ten years time when next it is on. I need to know how he really is, but of course no doctor or nurse will discuss with us. Oh dear, "damned if I do and damned if I don't".
Hope you all have a good Wednesday. Great to see a post from Diva yesterday. Take care.Resolution:

Morning all lovely bright morning here this morning. First load out on washing line, car full of rubbish to take to the skip, DS1 up and the house is a little more sorted. Am going to finish our bedroom today and the kitchen, then if the weather forecast is good for the next few days I'm going to try to sort through the garage - it is currently full of boxes. Don't even ask me about tea yet, I've not got as far as breakfast! Glad to hear from Diva yesterday. Have a great day all,Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning OSers - lovely sunny day here so up and out to enjoy it.
Not been to the shops for ages so will do a quick grab at some vegetable essentials later on today. Got a hospital appointment at 8.50 and then need to check on a friends garden, they are away for 3 weeks so have watering duties to complete. Upside is I get to pick the sweet peas. :j
Did a quick drive to Glasgow and back yesterday to sort out some 'motherly duties' so spent most of the day driving and only a couple of hours in the blessed place. Really need to get out walking today.
Got my old chest of drawers coming back this afternoon. I got them for (I think ) my 12th birthday and they were in a sorry state by the time the house was in turmoil for the new boiler being put in - so packed them off to a French Polisher. Am excited to see how they have turned out as they're lovely blonde oak wood. Seems that blonde oak has been renamed but can't remember what it is.
Hope everyone has a good day - and a big hug to those who are having difficulties. Seems so inadequate but it taken from deep.0 -
Morning all
Diva - great to see you posting again, big hugs to you x
Beemuzed - I don't envy you trying to make a decision, hugs to you x
Bright and sunny here this morning. House is so quiet as boys are away at M & FIL until later today. Last night OH and I had pork chops, mash, veg and gravy and tonight we have chicken - not sure yet what to do with it. Have put some washing out this morning and another now in WM - first time any washing been on the line since before the weekend, have had quite frequent rain showers but looking better now. Work has been ok just this morning then I'm off until Monday.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
