am i really not entitled to a full refund? i cannot afford £548 for another flight but i also dont want to lose the money i've already paid for my holiday

in short - no you are not entitiled to a full refund. You haven't booked a package holiday, you have booked, flights, hotels, and maybe transfers with separate providers, just that bookable has been the agent for this.

Your flight provider has failed, however the accomodation booking still stands. You WILL get a refind for the Kiss Flights, this will come from the CAA's ATOL scheme. More information here: http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=1052&pagetype=90&pageid=11591

However, that refund will not be instant. Basically, you have a choice to either pay up for new flights, or cancel the entire lot. If you need need to cancel your accomodation, be advised there may be cancellation charges assosciated. Also, on a final note, you should not have to book new flights through bookable, shop around the web and see what you can get.

With onthe beach the hotel will have no idea about anything other than your hotel booking so it should be fine. You should have a confirmation invoice from the hotel booking agent they used because your contract will be with them, so long as that is not Kiss or Flight Options, there should be no problem at all

Hi, Thanks for posting this info.

Did you get a refund for the whole package or just the flights?
Did you phone bookable after you got the original letter stating you can rebook your flights or did they call you?

I also booked with bookable holidays and i am due to fly out on the 18th Sep. Its impossible to get through to bookable holidays via telephone. so i have filled out the admin pass on bookable holidays and like yourself had the normal automated response but have heard nothing yet.

Another thing that is very confusing is on my confirmation from bookable it states booked with " princaple kiss flights" but im actualy due to fly with Monarch air lines. What does this mean?

Is it possible that kiss flights were suppose to pay monarch airlines?

    Please advise if u can.

    Regards:)

i received the letter on friday and they called me yesterday. I had submitted the contact form on their website on tuesday evening but couldnt get through to speak to them after that
we were due to fly out on 17th Sept and he told me they are calling people in departure date order so i'd assume they will be calling you soon if you submitted the form on their site.

They are giving us a refund for everything minus a £40 admin fee, per person. But he said we will get this back via a voucher to use against other holidays through them. They are sending me a form that they will have completed most of and i just have to fill in the rest and send it back

the principal bit refers to who its booked through i think. our confirmation says Bookableholidays are the principal

A reminder to everyone, and it seems in particular, those booked with Bookable Holidays. You are entitled to a complete refund, the CAA does not permit agents charge administration fees and you should demand all your money back. If they refuse, make a formal complaint to the CAA and ABTA of which they are members
  • If only I'd found this forum and wealth of advice earlier..... thank you for all your professional and expert guidance.

Were booked with sun4u to go to Majorca tomorrow (24/8). We all now know what happened to them, so the week before last had to change our plans and after some frantic searching found ourselves booked last weekend with Kiss flights as part of a deal to Corfu. 2 days later on Tuesday evening had a very apologetic phone call to say we'd been struck twice by lightning.

Now find ourselves travelling tomorrow to Egypt (having criss-crossed Europe without actually going anywhere!). Counting the hours and hoping that it's not 3rd time unlucky.

The claims (yes plural) can wait until we get back. I fear I'll need another holiday having negotiated the claims minefield.......

Got a call from bookable holidays (after my partner demanded to speak to chris - senior manager)

Apparently we are still going on holiday, chris said our flights were changed to olympic airline, we are just waiting for confirmation of this to come through the post.

Lets hope everything goes to plan and this is the case, I cant begin to tell you how happy i am, being my first holiday abroad too :)
