    Thanks Billy

I can handle it not being for a few more weeks, if only they hadn't told us it would be ready beforehand.

I've now been on the phone to site, who have said that the issue is the render on the back of the property. They cannot guarantee to have it done by end of the week, as the contractors didn't even turn up today, and they cannot even be sure it'll be done within the 2 weeks notice- i/e 30th. So the site lady is arguing that they might as well let us move in now, knowing the render isn't finished, rather than mess us around and delay our move by a week, when it still wont be ready anyway.

This is literally driving me mad.. they are such a massive waste of space. We told them back in July that the render was dodgy... and they put it off and put it off, and then agreed to repaint it. They finished that, and have NOW decided that it's not good enough so they're meant to be taking it off and starting again.

    :(

    Whoopee!

We're completing today. After a manic day yesterday getting funds trasferred to the solicitor (they sent us a letter telling us the funds had to clear the day before completion- we didn't get the letter until we got home- so it was only through luck I called them earlier in the day and found out, so I could organise the transfer in time! We're FTB- we don't know these things!)

    I am VERY excited!

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Hello Ztan

Sounds as if congratulations are in order!

All the delays and problems etc will seem worth it when you're finally in your new place with all your boxes etc around you.

Enjoy!! And as for the negative stuff you mentioned about interest rates rises etc earlier in your thread, well it's all a risk of course, but property buying is a Long Term investment - and over the longer term, it performs extremely well (though I think for most of us here, first and foremost, it's simply about owning our own home).

    Best wishes
    QB

PS - Be persistent with the snagging items and don't allow them to fob you off. I think developers' agents know exactly how off-putting it is to house buyers when they sigh and roll their eyes at requests to put everything in tip-top order which is why they do it!!!

    Thanks!

Q-B.. we are already well practiced pains in the rear, and have been since day one. That's why there is currently no render on the back of our property... because it wasn't good enough so we made them take it off and start again. They won't get away with anything!

We are very excited about owning our own home, and together :) We officially move on Wednesday, so we've got a few days to finish packing and get things organised at the new house- i.e painting the garage floor and walls as we're using it as a utility room / garage so are making sure it's fit for purpose.

The solicitors have already called to say the money has arrived and the mortgage provider have sent their funds, so as soon as the developers receive the money, we can ge the keys. I'm leaving work in an hour, so fingers crossed it'll be done by then!

I cannot wait to go to Ikea, and everywhere else and buy all the little bits we want and need for the house!

This is a great 'story' so far, thanks for sharing! It gives me hope as I have no way of saving for a large mortgage deposit (due to living alone) so this may be my only real chance for my own home, which is something I am desperate for!

Good luck with the move :)

Congratulations on your first home together!

I remember picking up my keys and was so, so happy! (I had drinks in my flat that evening, even though there was no running water and so people had to run to the pub across the road for the toilet!)

Enjoy it! Although I am sure you will! smiley-love019.gif

Hope you get all the snagging stuff sorted, persisit with it as otherwise you will only have to pay for it to be fixed out of your own pocket in later years.
