Well, I may be a mortgage free wannabe, but it's taking forever to even get started!

We have been told it's going to be another 2-3 weeks, so we'll be getting notice of completion soon- that was until we went to view the property on Sunday, and noticed that there was a wall missing in the kitchen. (Not an external wall, or anything drastic, just a small sub-divide designed to help keep the kitchen separate as it's an open plan living area) This will probably result in a further delay.. I don't know what they're doing at the moment though- things haven't changed much since we were there a week ago, so we're getting a bit fed up.

And now, we have the issue of not wanting to complete until the beginning of the month, as we don't want to be paying our mortgage etc in the middle of the month- preferably the 1st 2nd would be better. So, whilst we're desperate to get in there.... we may well be hoping it does take 3 weeks, and then we can delay a week and move in, in time for the beginning of October.

Sigh... I know I shouldn't wish this massive debt on my shoulders... but I just want my house now!
    MFW 2010- £112,500 + 20% Equity Loan = £150,000 35 years :o
    2013- £108,877.28 + 20% / current OP = 19 years :T

Target to be Shared Equity Free- 2016
Target for holiday to Australia- 2014
Currently training for a Commando Challenge- drop and give me 20

The completion date shouldn't affect your mortgage date - all that would happen is your 1st payment may be a biggy - e.g. 6 weeks if you complete mid month.

    Won't be long now!

I've had that reaction from everyone! It is funny to think a whole wall is missing....

Sigh! All the plug sockets are wonky too, says it all doesn't it?!

So.. thicko question then.... but when we complete... do we ring Halifax and say- can our mortgage payments come out on the 1st then please?!

I know the first one is going to be a whack in the nuts... but we're prepared for that.
My brain hurts with all this...

Is it not in your paperwork - from memory I think it's in the offer?

From memory... there was a leaflet full of T&C's which I read seemingly forever ago, which said it would depend on completion as to when the mortgage starts etc... i.e when the first payment is due.

    I'll have to re-read it!

We've been invited to our "New Home Demonstration" next week, so we have to book a time to go in and meet with the site manager, and go through how all the bits work. It should be fun.. maybe I should give him a demonstration on how to put power points in straight...!?

(I got a very huffy response when I mentioned that to the lady on the phone today- the party line is... "Well it isn't a finished property yet") I think having painted the walls and put sealant around the sockets is a good indication they aren't going to be straightening them up anytime!

I think I'm doing everyone's head in with the little things, but I'm paying LOTS of money and saddling myself with a big debt... so I expect it all to be blooming perfect.. or at least pretending to be perfect. Wonky plug sockets are not up to Ztan's standard!

Well, I had a phone call on Friday from our solicitors... to say "Oh by the way, we've legally exchanged contracts"

I have to be honest, I was more than a little bit confused... I thought we'd legally exchanged a while ago... bearing in mind we handed over our deposit and signed all the contracts- erm, 3 weeks ago?!

Turns out, because we kicked up a stink before, and they agreed to pay £500 towards our deposit, this has taken 3 weeks to get sign off from the developers MD and therefore we'd only just legally exchanged.

I am getting more and more  with our developers at the moment. We still don't have a completion date, even though we're a month behind schedule- AND they've done minimal work over the last 4 weeks. I am sincerely hoping that they get it all done now, and we can move in very soon!

We've been out to the house the last few weeks, and each time, someone from the houses next to us, has been parked in our drive outside our house. Now, as it's a coach house, everyone will be parked outside, they have their own garage under our house, and a drive space! I am sincerely hoping that once we are in, we will not be getting home in the evenings, and having to fight for our own space outside our house. I have sworn, it will ONLY happen ONCE... No one messes with my parking space!

Well, today could be the day we've been waiting for.

We went to see the place yesterday, and whilst there's still some minor things that need doing, we are apparently due to have our NHBC inspection today. So, if we pass, we'll be on two weeks notice! Woop!

We've been waiting for sooo long now, I cannot wait. The place is looking great, and we're ready to get going! :)
