    Argh!

I've been chasing the developer since Monday, still no word on whether we got signed off and no one is answering the phone! I've tried our aolicitors, and they've not heard anything either. I'm slowly losing my rag now!

Anyway, I've made my first direct contact with the lender today. I realized at no point had it been discussed which account the mortgage was coming out of. So after some faffing with our "brokers/advisers" I called Halifax myself. Turns out, I was right and the mortgage was set up to come out of my OH's account..! don't think he would have been too chuffed. I've now requested the details are changed to our joint account.

SIGH good job I checked. Only thing now is we don't know when the first payment will be. Once we've got notification, I'm going to worry about that. Right now I don't feel overly optimistic that we'll be moving this side of Christmas!

On a positive note though, every day we're not there, is a day we're saving more for when we are.

    :)

I might be moving in a week......

My OH had a phone call at 4:55pm last night from our solicitor to say that NHBC have signed off. He asked how soon we're looking to move, and the answer was as soon as possible.

He advised that he would notify Halifax immediately then that we were ready to complete, so they could start moving the funds. In effect, in 5 working days, we may be ready to complete.

I think I nearly choked when he told me- after all my meticulous planning, I had not planned for such last minute moving!
We were up til 11 last night, organising, packing and junking out.

Ladies, I've finally, after 2 years, managed to persuade my OH to throw out all those skanky t-shirts he never wears but was keeping anyway! I was dead chuffed he was finally taking this seriously!

We've dismantled our bed, organised all of our paperwork and the flat now looks like a bomb's hit it!

Panic stations here we come... New Home Demo today, so we can see just how far off finishing they ACTUALLY are.

    :D

Hope it went well Lilac, you'll have to let us know what you thought!

The New Home Demo was cancelled- or postponed until tomorrow. And now there's some problem with the render on the back again so they're putting scaffolding up and doing it again.

    I give up

Well, this is turning out to be one hell of an adventure!

We should be 99% definite picking the keys up on Friday- completion- done. The house is being worked on by a small army of people, who are re-doing the render, carpeting, and straightening up all the small details this week. They've guaranteed to have it sorted :)

So, we're booking in our removals for Tuesday next week (28th) so we can spend the weekend getting packed, and painting the garage. All very exciting.

Now having a small issue with getting BT to come and put a line in for us- we've been told we can have it booked in for 15th Oct earliest! However my colleague this morning has told me that if you have your line with Sky, they get BT out to do it, you don't pay a penny for connection and you just pay line rental to Sky, which is only £11 a month anyway.

I will be digging into this a bit deeper tonight- does anyone else know if this is a good option?!

Okay... OH had phone call from Solicitors. Persimmon now seem to think Friday may be "pushing it" and don't think they can complete then.

They are the ones who provided our solicitors with the go ahead to go for completion and have as such has 5 days notice of the funds coming in and completion.

What are their legal obligations? How long can they delay completion before I can kick up a bit stink. The house is behind schedule by 6 weeks, and has been sat untouched for weeks now (I am not kidding either, my OH and I visit the house every week and nothing has changed for weeks) Now all of a sudden, they don't think they can get the render re done, and the carpets down in 5 days?!

    Hi ztan,

Short of getting a gun and wandering in with an intent stare and some well rehearsed threats, I'm afraid almost everyone at every stage of the housebuying / selling process seems more than happy to take their sweet time. Lawyers, Estate Agennts and Surveyors are the real axis of evil to my mind! In my (limited) experience, things can drag on for ages but then it can all come to a head and get cracking in relatively short order.

Glad to hear you're nearly in. With the patience you've managed to show thus far, hopefully a few more days won't be too much of a fly in the ointment.

    Cheers,

    Billy
