    Oh dear guys... bad day.
Just found what our annual pay increase is and quite frankly I am very unhappy. My colleague and I were both petitoning our boss for a discussion about payrises. We have had a massive shift in our site's structure over the last 18 months and we are both working a lot harder and logner than before.

Unfortunately, our pleas, requests, jokes, hints and emails have fallen on deaf ears and we have been awarded a cursory 3% pay increase- along with everyone else. We aren't complaining about that... but considering we have repeatedly asked to have a review of our wages and our job roles, to be now told they have no intention of allowing us to put our case forward, to accept our 3% and shut up.... is nothing short of a red rag to a bull.

I know it's tough times, but we work for a huge company and our particular site is the most profitable in the group. We are working in an extremely old site, full of asbestos, mould, no heating, rotting walls and keep being told we are not yet moving. They are doing nothing about the building or the future of our site... ignoring our requests for more money or considering our workload.

3% of my wages means I'm earning an extra £516 a year... which by the time they marginally increase my pension contribution to reflect my increased earnings and tax me on it, I might get an extra £20 a month. I've worked hard, travelled 250 miles a week for the last 18 months and I've finally earned £20 a month extra. Which will only cover the increase in fuel cost... which is inevitable...

Excuse me whilst I go and celebrate... NOT

    Rant over...

So, after my boss casually made his announcement today, I haven't done the best job of hiding the fact i'm feeling rather

The stupidity of some men baffles me. My boss made no connection between me being in a mood and the payrise situation. Instead he had the cheek to ask me if there was a feminine reason I was in a bad mood...

    There are no words.
I'm sure I should be in a mood about that now and threatening to take him to court for making sexist comments.

He soon shut up when I told him I'm narked off because I'm not being paid enough and I'm fed up of being fobbed off.

Thank god I'm going spinning tonight, so I can relieve some of the tension I'm feeling right now. It's that or get on the

Morning folks.. wish I could say I was in a better mood today.
    The rest of my day went as follows;

Horrible journey home, traffic was horrendous.
Letter at home from Gym putting membership up again. 5% in a year. DOH is now going to cancel his membership and PAYG, because he doesnt go anywhere near as often.
Go to Spinning with my Mum.
She tells me my little brother who was meant to be going to Sandhurst in Sept now potentially having a hip op and will have to defer going for a year. That could cause problems.
Oh and my Grandmother wants to know if I'd be a trustee on her will.

I literally had a mental break down last night. So much for everything being on track!

oh my, z. i'm so sorry you had such an awful day....all i can offer is a dodgy hug :grouphug: and send wishes that your friday is better.

i know it's no consolation but i imagine that a LOT of people are bailing out the same boat as you right now - including me. and i do 300 miles per week to boot! so you're 50 miles up on me ;)

not to get too buddhist on yer butt, but try to think of all the good things you have. you're still in a much better position than a lot of people, with your own home, loving partner and health. :)

    TP...
I had a nice glass of wine and a read of Eat, Pray, Love last night, which always manages to refresh my perspective, whilst making me want to pack my bags and move to Italy.

I am unfortunately prone to dramatic tantrums when my best laid plans go to pot. I am a planner and I ALWAYS get what I want in the end, I just don't like my path being interrupted with random hills and brick walls.

But hey, I've got tea and biscuits today so it aint all bad.

    I'm going to be grateful for;
    - My Partner, who was almost uncharacteristically understanding and angry on my behalf yesterday
    - My cat, who gives the bestest feel better hugs (or at least lets me smoosh her until I feel I have received enough furry love)
    - My mum, despite her bad timing with topics such as "Fancy being a trustee!?"
    - Friday, because it means I can drink vino and sleep in tomorrow
    - My job, because I've been unemployed and that sucks
    - My ability to hold a grudge, because it makes me determined to make changes happen! :rotfl:

Almost managed a NSD yesterday but needed vino, beers, birthday cake for my mother and eggs for dinner. Should be a NSD today however which makes 3 NSD's this week. Better than I'd hoped!

    thassss ma girl!

i am queen of the tantrum as well, so i completely understand. i have been known (ahem) to overreact and then feel sheepish about it all later. it seems that we're lucky in having very understanding partners!

you're lucky with your cat though. mine will allow me to snurgle him for a while and then i'll get a clawy paw on my nose as he warns me with a stern look that snurgle time is now officially over unless i want a new nose piercing. little git.

anyway, yes - here's to weekends, wine, patient OHs, gainful (if not thoroughly appreciated) employment and good books

oh, which reminds me that i have that book sitting at home. might be just the thing to curl up with this weekend...

Another one here who tends to lose the plot and get v upset for about 24 hours whenever anything goes wrong, and then knuckle down and get on with it. :)

Wish I had a furry friend to cuddle. Still, I spent some time with a friend yesterday and had a lovely cuddle with her dog, so I'll just have to carry on making do with borrowing furry friends for cuddle purposes.

New idea for a business... rent a cuddle?
My moggy is extremely snuggly so I reckon I could make a mint out of her.

Had an insanely busy weekend, but the good productive kind.
Have just done a weekly accounts review and things are still on track. Cracking down is allowing me to see exactly what silly things we're doing with our money and it's surprisingly not as bad as I thought.
Had a sweep as well, and our money finally came in from selling all of our unwanted DVD's and Games to one of those websites, and DOH had a little OT so that was another £61 moved into the savings this week!
    :T

Also chuffed because OP's on mortgage make a lovely dent. Went from £109,407.08 to £108,829.82... which means a whole £577.26 was actually taken from the mortgage and only £47.74 was interest. (Total mortgage payment + OP is £625)
Love seeing it make a REAL difference. :D

Have almost finished our spare room, which is now by far my favouritest room in the house. Never has my life been so organised. :rotfl:

Just done evening meal plans for the week, DOH is now cooking falafels (much cheaper than buying and produces twice as much) to put in lunches and I'm planning what we're growing this year now our garden is finished.

All I need now is to find a way to make Monday NOT a work day and then I'll be fine.
    :(

Love the positive spin on being awkward and bolshie :rotfl:, I may adopt it ;).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I find it's best to make the most of your personality traits- whether they be seen as desirable or not.

I see awkward and bolshie as driven and determined. It hasn't failed me yet

It's like having a short attention span... that is the same as keen to find new challenges.
