Dont know if I can get help here. A family member has been employed with T Mobile for a few years I have now been told that because my cousin gave notice (coincidentally according to T Mobile) three days before the start of the contract they have removed the friends/family discount and won't downgrade me. The cost to terminate the contract is over £400. Can anyone suggest an option for me here
If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!

Were they on friends and family, or advantage plan?

Think you're stuck then, faf only lasts while the referrer works for Tmo.

That cant be right when I worked with them at first the discount was for life then around 2008 they changed it to for as long as the person who applied it worked for T-Mobile however if they left the discount was removed at the end of your contract period.

I suggest email customer relations cust.rel@t-mobile.co.uk

Which is what happened - the referrer quit prior to the start of the contract, is that not correct?

The way I read it was the employee put in their notice prior to the start of the contract and has left after the OP renewed.

Hi Yes that is correct, I wasn't aware that he was leaving because it would have been suicidal of me to take such a contract. I have just had TM on the phone and after a lot of negotiating between me and them the best I can getit down to was £5 and has just turned out as a £10 loyalty discount which is better than I started off with this morning

  • Hi I have been searching the net and came across this tread.
I too have a similar issue. I have been on the Friends and family discount. Since November 2008 iirc. The person who i went through to get the discount was still employed by TM at the time.of my renewal.

I renewed my contract last month using the discount.
Since then i have received a text asking to contract TM as the discount has expired.

After speaking to TM and not getting anywhere other then paying the full line rental or £1000 to get out of the contract.

I read the following. Can any one put this in.layman terms for me please.
' When you leave, we will contact your friend or relation to let them know that their discount will stop when their current minimum term comes to an end. We’ll also send them a text message when their minimum terms end to remind them they’ll no longer get the discount.'

What does it mean by "current minimum term"

Any advice very much appreciated. Thanks in advance

If you took out a new 24 month contract today your minimum term would be up until 11/02/2014, basically it's the end date of the contract.
