Best Value Washing Detergents

I usually buy whats on offer also, but Tescos normal powder - both coloured and non bio work great. We are in a soft water area so I tend to use half of what is recommended. If the washing is really grimey I add a table spoon of soda crystals to the powder, and this seems to help. If there are really bad stains I tend to squirt on washing up liquid and work it in, then just wash as normal. For fabric conditioner I use about a third of the recommended dose or sometimes none at all if the washing is being dried outside.
PinkPeach I love watching washing going round too - its not so good now the machines are ecofirendly as they dont use as much water but it was great when the whole door was filled with bubbles - so relaxing!!!!! Thanks for the tip about liquid washing detergent. I had my door seal replaced and it had a load of sticky grey gunk in it - yuk. I shall buy powder from now on. Aldi is pretty good.Snowball DF Nov 2017Jan 2011 MBNA £2634.66 Feb £2608.37 Mar £2561.860

when DS was diagnosed with reflux and his other health probs I admit to putting a few T Towels in the wash just so he could watch it. It was peace for me and he would sit in his pushchair watching it go round and round and if I was really lucky have a nap.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

I get mine from Lidl, can't remember the name, something beginning with F. I get 2 boxes of non-bio and a box of bio tablets, I use the non-bio most of the time, just 1 tablet and normally 30degree wash. I use the bio for OH work clothes as he works with oil but 1 bio tablet at 40degrees seems to work ok. I use Sainsburys own fabric conditioner but only a little bit and not every time as I find that makes the little tray go black and slimy and sometimes around the rubber around the door the same as the liquid detergents if I use it every wash, think it must be the low temperature washes. There is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion0

Well it's more interesting than watching Big Brother or most tellie programmes in fact!'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
Thanks for all the replies.
I've heard that about powders too ... my machine started covering all the washing with spots of grey gunge, it was really horrid and I couldn't get rid of it. The repair man said he thought it was a combination of liquids and using low temps and suggested that if liquids were used putting a hot wash with some bio powder through every 6 weeks or so (with no clothes in) to clean it. I've done this since and not had a problem. The cost of running an empty wash is nothing compared with having to replace the machine.
I've used liquids because of convenience but will look at powders. I think I might try value for things like bedding and towels but will stick with tesco or what is on offer for things like school uniform because I am one of those really sad housewives who worries about their whites being white lol.
Happy washing everyone x0 -
