OS Daily Thread for Tuesday 17th August 2010

Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Tuesday 17th August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.
¡Hola!
Woke up earlier today, so have a few mins. for me to pop on here, but as ever something else crops up when you try. Anyway DH has just brought me a cup of coffee to the PC, so no will continue.
Will get back to the LCing today, did extra on my birthday and felt a bit carp and achy, so took some painkillers yesterday morning before brekky, however, timing or something was wrong, and made me feel carper. Ended up eating whatever was the easiest, i.e. 'flakes brought to me by DS, and a small slice of toast, did get back to eating LC wise by the evening, but will start with a fry up shortly, when DS & GF get up, they are still in bed as have an early start tomorrow after a late flight tonight. It has been lovely to see them, and luckily the weather has given us 2.3/4 good days, today is looking very dodgy, but have a fall back plan to go and look at a couple of local bodegas, as DS is getting a taste for nice red wine. Not to excess but with a meal. GF has managed to top up her tan nicely, and DS has changed colour too.
Once they are up, then will put their bedding on, if it is dry, and over the next couple of days, which are forecast not to be great, will get the house sorted and the packing done, so that we can enjoy the last of the sun before we set off back to the UK.
I did reach my goal by my birthday, but may have slipped slightly, but will get weighed tomorrow and see what I have to do. The muscle which I had in spasm earlier in the year is giving me a bit of gyp, not as bad, but taking care of it. I have a Physio appointment on Wednesday, so will talk to him/her then and see what they can suggest for me.
Moiliere - Yes we are fine being totally lazy in truth, I think we are ready for the UK, though have the first 3 weekends planned with the 'van, including running a long weekend rally the 2nd weekend home.:o
OS wise, has been food prep, when at home, and keeping the place almost tidy, and clean(ish).

Morning all
It's miserable here too, grey and drizzlyso the WM won't go on now.
I'm working from home again today, and yet again woke up early without my alarm being set! I need to try to get 2 assignments done today so will be working super hard and not being distracted.
One of my friends just emailed me to say she has been granted a 1 year working visa for Oz. I'm so happy for her, and a little bit jealous! she will have a ball.
If I get my work done today I will pop out to shops later this afternoon as there are a few offers in Morrisons that I want to stock up on.
Not much OS here apart from putting the hoover over.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone
Wet and grey here today, aparently it will brighten up later - I won't hold my breath.
Quite glad to have got the first day back at work over with, why is it everything seems different when you go back? its like there is a secret and no one will tell you what it is.
Have done some ironing this morning, so thats all up to date but the wash basket is nearly full again, don't know how we get so much washing when there is only the two of us, (well, only 1 at the moment, OH wasn't home last night so guess most of it is mine)
Best get on, want to put the clothes away before I go to work.
Have a good day xxwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Morning all.
It a very grey and cold start to morning. nothing like yesterday.
I only have my youngest here as others at nannies. and he is still asleep. Been in bed ince 7 last night. he does love his sleep.
i'm making toad in the hole for dinner tonight with mash and veg and i think i might make a batch of lemon curd and jam tarts for when my lil peeps come home as a treat.
don't think washing machine will go on today. i hate washing drying in doors and not sure how long the rain will hold off as it spitting very lightly in the wind already.
Hope everyone has a good day .0 -
Morning all,
No rain here at the moment, but looks like it might tip down later on, I have a towel load in, will risk it on the line for an hour or 2, then put it on the airer.
Yesterday I made 4 spiced plum chutney, 4 wild damson jam and 4 wild plum jam, its all set well, and tasted fab, will put those with my ever growing stash of hm preserves, got a bit of an obsession making them :rotfl:want to try a chilli and lime jelly next.
Have got my sc on the go, my lovely best friend is goint into hospital on thursday to have a lump removed from her breast, she is to have total rest for a week after, so I have said I will cook them a few dinners, I have mince in the sc, with onion and lentils, will make a cottage pie, and if enough a lasagne, also a beef casserole and a fish pie, I want things that she can just take out of the freezer the night before and shove in the oven.I will run them all over to her on Wednesday.
So today I will be cooking that lot, I also did not get round to doing my shoping yesterday, so will do that today, I also need to hoover, I shall do downstairs, dd can do up. Might make her some twinks if I get time.
OK better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
I did just type a long reply but lost it !
Didn't get on here yesterday, was out virtually all day with work and came home with an horrible sicky headache so was in bed by 8:eek:
Feeling better now but headache is still in the background iykwim.
My steam generator iron packed up Sunday just I was about to start the mountain of ironing. Picked up a new one from argos yesterday & its fab. Was dearer than I wanted but i managed to try it out a little yesterday & its much better than my old one. Hope to clear the ironing pile today, won't get much washing done as the weather here is horrible too.
Not sure what the plans are for today - have to see whether our lorry is ready to collect.
Better get going, have a great day.x0 -
Morning All,
Just sneaking some time on here whilst DS1 takes Coco for a wee wander before school. OH took her out when he came home, but she misses DS so much he likes to take her out himself anyway!
Pack ups are done, I will nip to Asda quickly after I drop the boys off for some veggie mixes which Butterfly kindly told me are on offer, then home to do a wash and clean the floors. I will cook dinner this morning too, so that OH can take his share to work. Not sure what else I will do. I know I should do the tax................................
Hope everyone is well, hugs if you feel the need. Redruby how did you get on at the doctors?

morning all!
hi Trazy!
redruby - those chutneys sound nice!, I've never made Jam or chutney but I like eating them:D
Essex-girl - hope the headache goes away soon x
off to work later for me 11am till 10pm so not going to do too much before I go. Have had a quick clean/tidy and the WM is on. I managed to do all my paperwork yesterday - I bought some new files in the sale at WHS so have gone through the lot and decluttered it. DS2 and I did get side-tracked reading through all his old school reports and reviews from years ago.
Also managed to get the mowing done. Fingers crossed for DS2 as he's applied for his first job - part time at Morrisons.
off for a quick browse now, have a great day all xDo what you love :happyhear0
