A few years ago petrol stations stocked basic parts like that because if a bulb blew late at night you could get a replacement, seeing as Halfords don't tend be open all night.
Obviously you are too young to remember or just too thick to realise that?
You must have not been in a petrol station for a few years to not realise they stopped selling spare partsNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans0 -

Oh Jesus... Is this still going on.....? The thread AND people's inability to read?
Why do people keep talking about "spare parts"? I was after a bulb, not a new gear box or alternator.
FYI. They have not ALL stopped selling "spare parts", my nearest BP has a fairly good selection of bulbs.
Another Esso near me stocks front & rear bulbs, fuses and emergency fan belts. Just as they should......
Can one of the mods put this thread out of its misery?0 -
My local petrol stations all seem to sell a selection of motoring spares, such as oil. Not sure about blubs, though.0

I'd have gone to Halfords for a bulb...
However, that would be to replace the one I use from my spare bulb set, very conveniently placed in the boot (no batteries, timing belts, new bumpers, doors, etc. though).
I'm going to have to go to Halfords for a GB badge too, nobody in town sells them; it's an outrage...Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
Went out this morning in the freezing cold snow, when suddenly my front wipers stopped working. Also, I later found out, my rear wiper, my indicators, and my brake lights. Miles from home, I suddenly found myself in a very dangerous situation.
A quick scan of the manual showed them all to be powered by the same fuse.
No spares in the car, all shops were shut due to the weather, although mercifully there were a few open garages down the road.
Went to the first one..... yes, you guessed it. They had birthday cards, cheese biscuits and frapochinos coming out of their ears - but spare fuses? Forget it. Although ironically they had a few bulbs hanging up, but that was the sum total of their emergency spares range.
Same situation with the second garage (albeit without the bulbs), but then mercifully a third garage did have some fuses.
Having replaced the blown fuse and continued my journey, all I could think of was how much I wished it was one of the 'garages should sell what they like' brigade on this thread suffering instead!0 -
Next time swap it out for a less important fuse? Eg heated seats or electric mirrors as long as its the same rating. Also check the wipers aren't frozen to the windscreen as this is what prolly blew the fuse.
Also most cars have spare fuses in the fuse box but they just look like all the regular fuses but are in spare locators.Went out this morning in the freezing cold snow, when suddenly my front wipers stopped working. the fact is they sell what is profitable just like any other shop. simple as that really. there's no obligation for them to stock particular items, they can sell whatever they chose to just like everyone else does.0 -
You could always buy a set of fuses and bulbs for the car and keep them somewhere safe for when they're needed. Next to the manual perhaps.0
