    15 minutes by train.

I have a friend who lives in Manchester and works in London: that's a two hour train journey each way. Her employers pay for her tickets.
  • Mine is two hours each way including waiting times.

My job pays not too much over minimum wage but I do earn bonuses nearly every month so it makes it worth it. But on top of a 12 hour day and I'm shattered by day two!

Mine is 2 mins by car or 15 mins walk.

I used to have a 45min each way journey through country lanes which often meant getting stuck behind tractor/plough/sheep/cows/mud etc, so I moved closer to work!

I used to do 15 minutes car to the train, one hour on the train followed by 15 minute walk, leaving the house at 5 to get home at half 7, bed shortly after to get up early the next day, i hated it. Now it is about 30 hours from home to work, but at least it is only once a month and i live upstairs from work here.
  • Mine used to be 20 minutes by car, but is now an hour+ and 38 miles each way.
My wifes used to be 30 minutes for 10 miles by car but is now 90 minutes by car, P&R bus and train.

We are planning to move closer to where we work as they are only about 10 miles apart.

Saying that though. As a former train guard down south, I can refer to commuters who would commute from the south of the Isle of Wight by train from Sandown to Ryde, by boat to Portsmouth and then by train to London. Annual season ticket? about £4.5k standard class

My last job (Scotland) had a 50-minute car drive along single-track roads. Sometimes I'd be held up by cows walking along the road, so it would take a little longer.

My new job (starting shortly) is a 5m walk, 6m train ride, and 2m walk. Very convenient!

Mine is 40 miles each way and can take anything from 45 minutes to an 1hr 30 minutes - when the weather is bad then anything between 2hrs - 5hrs. On top of that theres then usually a 30 minute walk as I car share. The winter months are by far the worse for me.

About 8 minutes door to door on my bike (about 2 miles each way). Walking takes about 35 minutes. There is no way i'd do a commute which was not do-able on a bike, and would move rather than have a long commute as quality of life is important to me, rather that just being a wage slave.
