  • I have paid off Virgin credit card. Now strictly speaking it's not paid off because it's against my overdraft but it certainly simplifies things because it's one less debtor and one less lot of interest. And by the end of the month it should be paid off.

Have finished my last class so can put in my last invoice. Its a bit nerve racking because from next month I'm on my own. But that's quite exhilarating to. I'm actually quite tired so I might do a couple of odd bits of Christmas shopping, complain to Tesco, submit invoice and sleep... zzzzzzzz

    Excellent news Ruby! :T :T

And good luck for your interview! Fingers crossed and lots of positive vibes for you! :T
  • Congratulations Ruby on 'clearing a debt':j

I think we must be related, I call my sister Mrs Bouquet (from Keeping up Appearances) and the kids call her Monica (from Friends)! My housekeeping/hoarding style is much more laid back:rotfl:. She even likes moving house as it is a good reason to chuck stuff out!! I hate moving house for the very same reason (I might need all of my carp sometime).

It's a shame you didn't do so well at the craft fairs, I think everyone's cutting back this year so hugs (((((()))))) to you and hugs to sis for her car (((((()))))).

Take care and good luck with the interview.

  • I got the job!! Whoop! Whoop! Saw the headteacher and she said yes yes yes! It is going to be a lot of hard work because I am working one to one with a little boy with complex needs and very challenging behaviour but its a lovely unit and I think I will have a lot of support there. I'm looking forward to to the challenge and I've been explicit about needing to be with my own kids if they're poorly - they have said that they can be flexible and welcome a flexible approach. I'll be doing mornings initially and then afternoons when the other one to one comes back.

Have done most of Christmas shopping. Boys pretty much finished apart from some odd little bits. I've slightly overspent on them but not too worried as they have got things like toothpaste and socks in their stockings. Have found the boyfriends birthday present (Jan) but can't tell you what it is incase he is following! Needs some work but I'm really excited about it.

Looking forward to a good tidy up this weekend, and Christmas present making. And found my niece her first Russian doll for 75p!

  • Is so cold! We had a brief smattering of snow at 3pm to ensure a festive end to the term.I have a bag of goodies from kids and colleagues at school and realising the up side to teaching! Had a difficult last day as one on my school kids with attachment issues really struggled. The problem is with children with complex needs is that they don't cope well with change!

So term is finished, old job is finished, it's my last day with my boys until after Christmas, new job lined up, house to clean. bath to take and Christmas to prepare for. Am looking for a reasonably priced spa day for me and a friend because quite frankly after the last 4 months I think I need it!

Right now I'm going to have a cup of tea and watch a Christmas film with my babies. Everything else can wait!

Oh excellent news Ruby! :j :j :j Well done you! :T :T How utterly fabulous, what a great start to the new year for you! :T :T
  • It's all about the cleaning today! Have sorted out the boys bedrooms (deep cleaned) and skimmed and tidied my room. I've gone through my wardrobe and bagged up everything that I haven't worn in last 3 months or doesn't make me feel fantastic. Rest of a house is a mess but at least now I have some clean rooms to put stuff away properly. Reason it took so long was DS1's room was DISGUSTING! Every draw was crammed full of rubbish and had to be emptied out streamlined and reorganised. I found hundreds and hundreds of sweet wrappers not to mention sachets of sugar which would explain the massive whole in his tooth! Little so and so! Sorted now and is a holding area for the stuff from my sister's car that needs to go back next week. Little boys' room is holding area for presents and wrapping so can start getting on with wrapping this week.

Got final pay slip from old work and they have totally jipped me. They've paid me to the last day of term rather than end of the month. And contract for new job states term time only so I'll be earning considerably less than I thought. Will speak to HR about the former as I think they are in the wrong but it is yet another thing to sort out. It makes me feel sad to work so hard and be so undervalued. Along the same lines when I was cleaning I found the Diaries for DS1 and DS2. Now I would never knowingly read someone elses diary but there were things written amongst pictures etc so it wasn't obvious what it was. However, the jist was from both boys that they've been really unhappy. And I've been the cause. Ever since I've been 'employed' life has been really hard for all of us. it all points to getting the business up and off the ground and supporting us as a family to have the lifestyle we want.

Off out in a bit. Some circus friends are having a big birthday party in town so a good excuse to get dressed up and party. The rest of the cleaning can wait until tomorrow!

Ruby - I know you are really busy, but can you plan some special individual time with each of your boys? Simple things like giving up some of your valuable time to go swimming, or have a baking morning together. You may want to take their comments with a pinch of salt as I'm sure it is hard being both parents in the house and the only income earner and remaining dignified with your OH. His new life must have an effect on the boys as well.

Could you introduce a chores rota, so they can help you keep the place tidy (at least their rooms). You could buy DS1 a bin for his room and reward all of them when they help out (you are a team after all, even if you play on the helpless Mum who needs her boys to look after her ...) As far as the hole in his tooth, well he now knows the consequences of munching through all those sweets and may think about it next time (he wouldn't have learned this if you had found them before ;) )

As for being conned at work, you should have a contract for both of them - can you check what it says? I would have thought if you had to give x days notice with the old job, they should pay you until then (but it depends on what your contract says)
