  • Northern Las, thank you, that is really genuinely very helpful. There are a couple of things that are still sitting at 99p with only 50 or so minutes to go. Wouldn't even cover fees :( Some other things are doing a bit better though so maybe I should treat it as a job lot in my head. If it sells, it sells and then it is no longer devaluing and cluttering up my living room. There are some things that I would rather keep than give away though. Or give away to people I actually know and value.

Some good news for the day:
The wii is sold!! £150 cash in my hand!
Have sold enough Jamie stuff to cover my postage and earn commission!
Sold a few crafty bits and stock to a lovely friend who might also have a TA position going begging!
WE GOT OUR FIRST EGG! Reckon the fox must have scared it out of them!

Had the homemade soup and bread at lunchtime and wanted to share the soup recipe with you as it was basically made with fridge leftovers. All the fresh ingredients were hanging limply around my fridge. Adjust recipe to your own bits of leftovers:
    1/2 onion chopped
    1/2 red onion chopped
    2 carrots peeled and chopped
    few celery stalks chopped

soften in some olive oil in a large pan. Add:

    2 x tins of tomatoes

season with salt & pepper, a pinch of sugar to taste and a dash of balsamic vinegar. Throw in whatever herbs you have to hand. Blitz in the blender and heat back through. Yummy!

Right, need to have a clear down as am working from home tomorrow. And have just realised that I haven't organised childcare for after school tomorrow. Whoops! Quick ring around then!

Will update you on ebay profits in a while...

  • Cheery, I'm really feeling for you with the PhD. I had the same thing with my diploma a few years ago - just couldn't find the impetus or the will to finish. A bit of life coaching and a clearly defined deadline and small interim goals got me there and the relief I felt on completion was life changing.

In just a couple of short weeks you will have finalised your PhD, you will be on holiday and relaxing with Mr Daffs for Christmas (I'm picturing a log fire and glass of something warm and alcohol laden. And 1970's jumpers for some reason!), you will be a free woman and you will be Dr Cheery! Visualise your end goal. It's going to be beautiful!

  • £70 - not bad. It's worth more as cash in my pocket rather than clutter in my lounge...

My very talented friend is the director for this choir. Really powerful and moving and a good reminder that however difficult things are there is always somebody who is struggling more. If you like this, please share it on facebook etc

    Thank you xx

  • Got paid today! Hooray! Hooray! I have petrol in my car! I did an online shop for Monday! I can't even begin to tell you how much this cost - I have run out of everything! And, best of all I have done a budget for December and can feel confident that I can afford to do some Christmas shopping now. And anything I earn at the fayres will be surplus for savings, debt repayment or whatever I see fit. Oh man, and I've just remembered car tax is due tomorrow - better go and order that straight away.

I completed a soa for nationwide - I've asked them to refund my charges so they have asked me to complete a hardship request. So, 2 bank letters completed. And, I handed in my resignation today. I am resigned. I took a leap of faith and handed it in despite job offer not being confirmed and sure enough the new school asked me to come in on Thursday. Yippee! So far, December is shaping up nicely! Please let it continue!

  • Tried to order my tax disc online only to discover my card had been stopped! Had a little panic then just got on with it and phoned the bank. Turns out somebody had tried to make a fraudulent transaction on it. Eek! Luckily the bank had picked it up and stopped the card. But now, 3 weeks before Christmas I don't have a bank card!

Did a brief shop for the basics incase we should (fingers crossed!) get snowed in. However, read the school policy on extreme weather and emergency closures and it says the following: all staff are expected to be in school. If they can't get in to school because of extreme weather then they still have to get in. I'm not joking! So basically, if it snows I have to get to school and if the school closes I have to get to school. And if my children aren't at school I have to get to school. And where is the headteacher? Working from home.

Ok, was secretly hoping for work to be cancelled tonight but looks like its going ahead. And wouldn't mind being snowed in for a day or to so I can restock and bake for Sunday.

So, guinea pigs in the house now, chickens have extra straw and tucked up in bed, children off to their dad's tonight, quick tidy up, clear down, off to work, back and then to my sofa!

Goodness me Ruby! Good on the bank for stopping your card - but is there nothing they can do to get you a new one more quickly?!

And as for school policy - I can understand why they'd encourage you to go in - but surely if the school's closed?! Hope you figure it out...
