the white edging around my bedroom window has a lot of black mould (i presume it's mould) along the bottom

I have cut up strips of kitchen roll that have been soaked in bleach stuck them to the affected areas and left them for an hour or so............then remove the kitchen roll bits, rub with a pan scrubbie, rinse & wipe:D

I also have a couple of microfibre sponges that I use to wipe the condensation from the windows, I do this every morning when I open the curtains, it slows down the re-growth, & doesn't take a minute.

I bought the sponges from the pound shop yonks ago, they are cute and look like Sideshow Bob's hair ( from the Simpsons!):rotfl:

Bleach solution and a toothbrush did ours proud, it did take a bit of elbow grease though.
im with you, an old toothbrush and a bit of time.

my dad taught me to wipe down windows with an old flannel and a bit of shampoo when they get misted, for the next few mornings you'll have no mist on the windows, and you dont need the toothbrush so much.:j
  • If you use a damp toothbrush dipped in bio washing powder and give it a scrub it should take away the black mould ......this can also be used to clean tile grout ! :D
Avoid fruit and nuts .You are what you eat :D :rotfl: :rotfl:

I use the bleach/toothbrush too and cotton buds for the `fiddly bits`.
  • I have the same problem with black condensation mould but on the ceiling of my bungalow above the front window. Also on my bathroom ceiling both rooms are exposed north facing and it seems that no matter how well insulated we are, they are both cold spots which attract moisture which immediately condenses. Obviously, my difficulty is how to get something on the ceiling long enough to do its job! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
