Have just missed the kindle one for 99p (didn't know it was just a 12 days of Christmas offer) so I have bought the paper one as it's only a few pennies more.
Can't waitEspecially to try the doner kebab one

Damn I was going to buy a kindle edition for 99p too - just so I would have it when I went away, just in case! But there is "The American Takeaway Secret" by Kenny McGovern for 99p - does anyone know if this is the same? I'll probably end up taking a punt - if it's the same, great if it's different, it may be interesting to have.0

I've just had a look & the description says ...
'The American Takeaway Secret features all of your US fast-food favourites from the bestselling The Takeaway Secret'
so it looks like it's a selection of recipes from the original book, similarly with the Indian one, a review of which says there are 14 recipes + 1 drink in it
so if you already have the Takeaway Secret there's not a lot of point in having either of those two cut down versions0 -
Thanks! Yeah I guess if it only has 14 recipes or so it's not worth it - I was thinking it might be useful to have with me electronically so I could use it if we're away or something but I think I'll not bother!0

Has Anyone tried cooking the Banana Muffins? I tried these last weekend and can honestly say that they exploded all over my oven
think it was because there was baking powder (Baking Soda in the book) and Bi-Carb in it
I am not sure which one to reduce thou  the mixture did taste yummy before I put it in :j

Baking soda is bi-carb, baking powder is a mixture of bi-carb and cream of tartar (often with anti caking agents) in a ratio of 1:2
If you used baking soda and bi-carb then you've two thirds of a teaspoon more bi-carb than the recipe called for, which might explain the explosion. (And no cream of tartar, which, if memory serves, affects the size and structure of the bubbles)
Hope this helps0 -
Ok Im hooked....cooked the kids Big Mac's and they were amazed. Also tried pancakes and American Sausage today and that was to die for, sausage was exactly the same as McDonalds.
Going to try a Korma midweek with Pashwari Naan. I'm going to be so fat!!!0 -
I've been talking to Kenny McGovern on Twitter and thought you might all like to know he has a new book out in May called 'More Takeaway Secrets'. Recipes will include...
Chicken with black pepper sauce
Salt and pepper chips
Madras curry
Vindaloo curry
King rib
American bbq ribs
Bacon and folded egg omelette bagel
Kung pao chicken
Mongolian beef
Crispy beef
Chicken puri
Yakitori chicken
Tasty big burger + sauce
Boneless buffalo wings
Chocolate fudge cake
Ice cream frenzy
...and more!
And I THINK he said to someone else recently chicken katsu curry and sticky rice is in the book too. Yummers!
I'm quite excited about this book. Anyone else??
