  • So far I have made the onion rings and the vanilla icecream milkshake, the onion rings were sooooo good! the milkshake was good too but very sweet, I think next time Id not add any sugar at all as the sweetness from the icecream should be enough

^^ looks like it's chicken day again today (love the stuff :o)

I asked for boneless chicken breasts and got given chicken strips instead so I thought I might as well make the breaded Chicken Strips. However, it requires breadcrumbs and I don't have a food processor! Are there any substitutes? Or shall I just chop the strips up small and make chicken bites with the nuggets coating?? :o

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    HI [A] :)

I haven't tried the nuggets myself, but the strips would work just as well as the chicken breast called for in the recipe

I was going to do Chinese chicken stir fry tonight to use up some veg I have in the fridge, but now I've read the nuggets recipe I fancy making them with a veg stir fry on the side :D

EDIT ... what you need to do for the breaded chicken strips is find a friend with a processor who'll let you use it, make up a big batch of the seasoned crumbs & keep them in your freezer, bribe them with the promise of some food if necessary ;)

My mum used to make breadcrumbs out of our old stale bread (whole loaf, we never had sliced bread!) she used to cut thick slices, take off the crust and cut them into fingers. Then she would dry them out on the rack in a very low oven - as low and as long as it took to turn them into rusk, which she then bashed in a bag with a rolling pin. I still do this sometimes, makes lovely crispy breadcrumbs. Not quick though!

Haven't read all through the replies so apologies if this has been mentioned before but this book is currently in 'The Works' discount book stores at £1.99 which i think is much cheaper than normal?

I bought mine from The Works today for £1.99. Found it with the student stuff not with the cookery books.
