Have any of you lovelies made the meatball sub? I've never had one from said takeaway but the mince I used made 26 meatballs not 10-12 :rotfl:. Does one you get from the shop have mahoosive meatballs in it?? (I was gonna right balls then but realised it would have sounded bad :o)

the meatballs in a sub are about the size of a ping pong ball

doing rough maths, based on 500g mince, plus about 50g of breadcrumbs/herbs - each ball should weight about 55g if you want 10 meatballs

as im not that good at guestimating either, i tend to stand my mixing bowl on the scales, and then weigh out lumps, shaping as i go

Oh I'm not that worried - I had 4 of my meatballs in a sub and it was plenty - happy enought just wondered how big they 'should' have been. Doesnt help that I've not had a 'real' one before :rotfl:

  • Made these this evening. Absolutely bloody awful.

Dry to the point of being almost unpalatable.

I'm a very experienced cook, follow the instructions etc. Under cooked because the cooking was way too long and still soooooooo dry.

I used the right mince etc, made sure it wasn't a low fat.

Our local kebabs are succulent, this was like corregated cardboard in comparison.

    Complete waste of ingredients.
    Put the kettle on. ;)

I bought onion granules from Tesco. It is like powder so I am presuming it is the same.

Hi Lainey as above I've ended up getting granules have you used yours yet and do you still think their good enough? it really is fine i couldnt imagine powder being any finer.

It seems as fine as the garlic powder.
