  • Hi everyone,

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd join this one. I need to decide (quickly - i.e. by the end of tomorrow!) which shower I will be buying for my bathroom. The reason for this is the plumber is in and wants to lay the waste pipes during his first fix. For this he needs the layout of the shower tray.

I asked him for recommendations as this is the first shower I have (or will be buying). He said Kudos and Roman are very good though expensive and told me to avoid B&Q at all costs!

I don't really know what budget I should be planning for. I do know I want something with decent doors that won't leak after 3months! I also want something with a decent tray that feels stable - not on feet, another recommendation.

I need to decide between a 800mm quare unit or a 800mm quadrant design. I'm thinking that I will probably go for a quadrant, as the room is pretty small and it will make the remainder of the room feel a little more spacious.

I think I'll end up going for one that has a silver / chrome look to it.

So - now over to you lot - can anyone help with good recommendations or where I might get one of these Kudos / Roman showers cheap?

    Thanks in advance!

Have a look at Roman Showers and Manhattan - they are reasonable and about worth what you pay for them.

Good evening: try this Kent based online retailer for Kudos, Roman, Twyford etal..we have used them for our own renovations.

An 800mm quadrant will give you less showering room than a 800mm quadrant . We went from an old 800 square tray upto a 900 quadrant tray..quite a noticeable difference in space so i'd say go as big as you can fit in.

Hi Andrew - thanks for the reply. Do you mean an 800 square will give less than an 800 quadrant? :S

I would be able to get a larger shower in (which I'd prefer), but it would mean VERY awkward getting to use the toilet :(

    Heya Canuckle! :)

Thanks for the link. It all still feels like a minefield to me at the moment. I hate having to make decisions quickly. The twyford looks a lot cheaper than the other options - do you rate them? I guess you must do so to kind of 'recommend' them.

Can anyone confirm that the shower tray usually comes with the shower enclosure? I would bloomin well think it should! Though when I looked at the Kudos quadrant and it didn't mention the shower tray - just at the bottom as another product. There's no way I want to pay extra for the tray!!!

Hi...the shower tray is usually an extra unless stated as part of a package (as in my link).....and yes, we do like the Twyford Geo and the Hydr8....value for money options.;)

Well I've just been looking at that little package - which I must admit looks good. Now, when you say value for money, do you mean you would put these in as a cheap option (I don't mean putting things in the cheapest and nasty). E.g. would you install these in other properties - not the one you live in (again that's not to say any rennovations you would do are cheap ones).

I hadn't quite budgeted for how expensive an enclosure AND tray would cost! :O I could buy two of these (one for bathroom and one for en suite) for less than the price of a Kudos enclosure (near enough), on paper - it looks tempting!!

    Hi,
I have recently bought 2 bathroom suites from Next (supplied by Mark 2 bathrooms). I have the 800 semi frameless pivot door enclosure in my ensuite and the 900 quadrant in my bathroom. The quality is excellent, far better than those I seen in B&Q etc.
I called the helpline number prior to ordering to ask if there was any more discount available and got an extra 5% off, not sure if there is a minimum spend for that but it's worth a try.
    Hope that helps
