Why did you move from Sickness benefit to JSA and have you had any luck finding work?

Life can be very depressing and being employed/rich/good looking..whatever has no bearing on it.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • keep track of all calls, postage costs, any taxi fares (to DSS interviews) and any bank charges incurred due to thier own mal-administration, when your claim is back on track ask about compensation for all of these plus distress.

all government departments are like this, its par for the course. as long as you have your letters, you can prove your case so dont worry too much.

    Call shelter http://www.shelter.org.uk/

They have lots of information and will be able to talk you through options.

Could you also talk to your GP and see if they can offer some counselling to help you cope with this and other situations.

    Good luck though

I went off sickness benefit onto JSA without any gap whatsoever

Housing Benefit wrote and asked me to inform them of my circumstances

I waited for JSA to send me information to show Housing Benefit

    no information came

I had 5 weeks with no money

JSA was telling me I was claiming Sickness benefit and sickness was telling me I was claiming JSA

Finally after hours on the telephone to the incredibly rude and aggressive JSA staff in Glasgow who gave attitude for no reason and were totally incompetent and unhelpful the entire 5 weeks of the ordeal JSA understood that I was claiming JSA and started to give me money

Housing Benefit have now contacted me and saif there was a gap in my claim and I oew £240 in rent arrears

I have called them and been into the office to explain that there was no gap in my claim

their explanaition for this demand for £240 is because I didnt notify them

I have explained to every single person I can talk to that there was a 5 week period of total confusion and I didnt have documents to send them

every time I asked JSA to tell Housing benefit that I was on JSA they refused - they kept saying I was still on sickness benefit - it all just went round and round and no-one could have cared less

I am confident that Housing benefit are fully aware of what they are doing

they know there was no gap in my claim and this ploy to pin the blame on me for not sending forms is a total smoke screen

Anyone can see that there was no gap in my claim and I have documents to prove it

to say I owe them £240 for JSA incompetence is deliberate manipulation of the facts

They have deliberately sent me from pillar to post and they know none of my running around is going to change their decision

If I am evicted from my council flat I will kill myself - its as simple as that - it has taken me 20 years to get this flat - I'm 52 and I have no job and nowhere to go

I feel I'm totally at the mercy of people who are deliberately planning to get me out of the flat by falsely causing arrears that they know I cant pay

could citizen's advice help me? what are the legal rights of someone continually claiming benefit? Surely I am entitled to get that benefit?

I need someone to fight my corner - they know they have got me where they want me

Sorry to read your story, this isn't the first time they have taken the !!!! it happened to a friend of mine also and to myself. What I done was prove my claim by any documented evidence I could get my hands on for this reason this is why I email or write a letter sent by special delivery because I know how they play the game laughing all the way. Yes.... they know what is happening they all work together don't be fooled by their word professional liers they all are. Citizens advice could help you but the most important thing to do in your situation is know your right because they will try and obscure you to their advantage because not many people can be bothered to know learn their rights. They know this loads, once you know your rights you will be more at peace with your self.

    Welfare Rights helped me out.

    So much eaiser the pressure has been taken off me. :A :A :A :A :A :A :A

i know how you feel the same happened with me last week. i got a letter from housing benefit to say that my benefit had been suspened and i was no longer entitled to housing benefit. i rang job centre they said my jsa claim had not been suspened or stopped and sent me to housing benefit who told me job centre had told them my benefit had been suspened and told me to reapply for housing benefit and told me to go back to job centre for proof of jsa claim. so i went back to job centre they then sent me back to housing benefit and said they have to send a NHB7 to job centre to confirm dates of benefit and they send it via email so i went back they said no we cant do that you have to get proof of jsa not us. so i went back to jobcentre and asked for a manager explained what had happened and he told me the same get them to send a NHB7 via email and they will reply with proof of benefit.
i then went back to housing benefit and spoke to the manager explained everything and he sent the NHB7 to jobcentre and told me to come in two days and it should be sorted. i went back in and it was done and my housing benefit payment had been issued.
i would go to housing benefit ask them to issue jobcentre with a NHB7 if they say they dont do them like they did a few times with me ask for a manager.
    hope you sort it out

Judging by how much my sister in law owed the council, it takes a lot more than a couple of hundred quid to get evicted.

All H/B want is you to confirm what income you got for gap period , if you did not recive any income just confirm this in writing ,they will asess your claim on nil income for gap period .

People come off ESA for all different reasons ie starting work , going on Income support , or like in your case moving on to JSA , H/B are not in cahoots with any other dept to not pay you , they would have probably tried to verify your income themselves but as you were not receiving any wouldn't be able to ,it is up to you to keep them informed so if no income just tell them, what is the problem ,you need to put it in writing then your claim can be amended to show this . If esa ends and 5 week gap they have to have something in between .Find out if they have already done the overpayment , then find date they did it as long as you contact them within one month of action taken they can reconsider this decision , if its after one month then you have to re-claim ,your claim will be paid from mon after claim received and the weeks prior (which would be the gap weeks )you would have to claim backdating and explain what happended ie why you didn't provide info which is as you said because you waited for it to arrive . If you had contacted them during 5 weeks they could have paid on nil income until JSA started but belive me they are not all trying not to pay you ,they just dont have all the info they need to be able to amend change during gap period ie nil income

the council sent me a repossession order for the flat as I owed £335

I went to the council and the arrears woman from the council - who had served me witha repossession order "because she had no choice" ??went with me to give a letter in explaining AGAIN what had happened

long story short the council back dated the payment

all the stress and greif was caused by jobsworths and incompetence

thanks for all the helpful replies
