Low income yet not entitled to anything

Chances are, you wouldn't be awarded full CTB because of the salary level - so you'd still have to pay some of the bill.
It's a good question though - can a person opt not to claim WTC if it then means that they can be awarded some HB & CTB which could be more? Could a Council turn round and say "No, we won't pay you HB, you have to claim WTC instead" *shruggy smiley*
ETA. Just chucked rough figures for myself into entitledto.com, and I'd get £20/wk less HB (and no CTB) than I'd receive in WTC. Thus WTC is better to claim for me!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

So you get an additional £5954 (approx) a year in top up benefits etc, bringing your income up to about £20858pa?I get £458(ish) every 4 weeks wtc and ctc-I'm paying back an overpayment.
Is the £458 / four weeks the amount before or after the deductions because you were overpaid?"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
So you are entitled to something. Over £5K a year.
Seems a not inconsiderable sum to me.0 -
if you feel the benefits your already getting aren't enough then you could always gat a job yourself for extra income ?
and if the rolly eyes icon was still here I'd have used it, some people are never happy!!!!0 -
Your choice of post title "Low income yet not entitled to anything" is somewhat misleading, isn't it?! Perhaps you should look up the definition of "anything" because £458pm definitely classes as "something"!I get £458(ish) every 4 weeks wtc and ctc-I'm paying back an overpayment.I would rather not have wtc if it meant I could claim everything else.
We get less wft than the council tax bill for the year.
If you're that keen to have a new laptop, you can get discounted refurbished ones from most of the main dealers. I suspect however that it's not a laptop you're interested in; it's more about getting something for free.I'm not saying we are struggling.
I mean all these things like free laptop, free school meal, healthy start vouchers we are under the 16k(or whatever it is) but wtc stops us getting it.
As you have two children (whom, for the purposes of this calculaion, I have assumed are both over 1 year old but under 4), Healthy Start vouchers would be in the region of £6 something per week. I fail to believe that you don't have £6 odd to spend on fruit, vegetables and milk...
Re. free school lunches, well, assuming you were entitled to Healthy Start Vouchers for both your children, they'd be too young to be in school! But as you're complaining about not being eligible, at least one of your children must be of school age, which would reduce your Healthy Start vouchers "entitlement". Making a fuss over a voucher worth £3 odd per week when you're already being given around £115pw in WTC is truly pathetic! Believe it or not there are people in far worse situations than you and perhaps you should learn to be grateful for what you've got!
Rant over.

Rant all you like I don't care!!!
I'm not entitled to healthy start vouchers(both over 4) nor can I get free school dinners!!
This country is all for ppl who don't want to work. They get everything handed to them.My dh works hard and we get penalised for him working. No I will not go and get a job-We'd lose more than we'd gain.Childcare is expensive and few and far between anyway.
I'm not complaining about the tc I get.I'm moaning that my dh works and we get very little in the way that if he didn't work we'd get everything0 -
You pay over £400 a month council tax...???
Surely not?0 -
Have you actually worked out what you'd receive in full benefits?
My guess is you are better off working.0
